I never had fear of the dark. I didn't ever believe there was monsters or ghost hiding in the darkest places, but now I don't have a choice. It started when I turned 13. I remember it like it was yesterday because I got my first nintendo 64 console. Everything about the console made me happy to play it. I'm not here to talk about that though. I'm here to tell you that there are things in the dark. When the light turns out and the darkness spills into the room creatures that only death himself could think of comes out.
When It was time to go to bed I quickly turned off my light to get to bed not even thinking of what the consequence would be. As I pulled the covers over me I hear a slow, and high pitches clicking sound. It kept getting louder and louder. I just assumed that it was my fish tank until the clicking got so loud it my ears were on the verge of bleeding. Finally, I got up, searched the room, and found nothing. Just darkness. I turned to head back to bed cause by now the clicking had stopped. I regret turning around since the moment I did it.
A long, pale, peeled, and rotted man was lying on my bed.
All I could do was stare. While the fear was strangling me I had to wonder was he alive? Slowly I looked closer. He was breathing but it was short and small. Maybe he was hurt or he might need my help? From what I could see his eyes looked carved out and replaced with only blackness. His mouth and nose were intact but his ears were cut and carved to look like devil horns.
At this point I had gained some of my senses. I looked around for my phone only to my horror that it was lying right bed next to the creature. If I try and grab it I could be doomed but if I don't I'll be dead meat as soon as I reach my doorknob. Since he had no eyes I decided I would reach for my phone to call 911. I took a couple of steps and reached for my phone. Sweat was washing over me as the phone met up with the palm of my hand. I turned it on to see the main screen. Just as I was about to call 911 the man shot up and grabbed my hand with his cold wet claws. I was ready to do anything I could to get out of his grasp, but I couldn't think of what to do. I decided if he was gonna hurt me I'll make sure to get in the second punch, but if he was trying to get my help I would call 911.
I waited for him to make his move. His grasp wasn't getting looser or tighter so I decided to call 911. *click* 9 *click* 1...."are you afraid of the dark?"
I froze. I couldn't blink or move or do anything but sweat and just stand there. Slowly I answered his question
"N-no I'm not"
Silence....
"Well you should be little boy"
"Who are you?"
Silence....
He wasn't answering and after it seemed like hours he finally did something. He reached out his hand.
He wasn't pointing at anything, but he was almost waiting for me to react.
Almost as if an impulse I high fived him.
The creature apparently thought this was hilarious cause he started laughing. A lot. He kept going for about 20 minutes without taking a breath. All the while I was just looking at him. After 20 minutes he stopped abruptly. It almost scared me more than his laugh did. He turned his head to face me.
"You are not afraid of the dark because that's all you will see"
Pain started pounded in my head. I fell down in agony, and my heart was speeding up. My eyes felt like they were popping. I couldn't open them, but keeping them close as just as bad.
"What did you do?!"
Silence...
The stinging in my eyes only got worse and worse but the second. I could open one eye for one second to see the man. He had put his hand on his hollowed out eye sockets. Suddenly my hand uncontrollably reached out toward him. To my surprise he gave me a high five back.
