"—SO try it." Grayson Jansen says suddenly to Brea Santana.
"Try what?" Her eyebrow raises with intrigue.
"You said you can snap your fingers and turn your feelings off... like a light switch, you said, just like that?! So, fall in love with me and then one day...just... stop. and move on," Brea was taken aback by his words, thinking there's no way he was serious.

She gets up to leave and laughs at him saying,"you're crazy."
But as she shakes her head, on her way to the door, he grabs her arm and says,"no, I'm serious, B. If you're telling the truth that you have great communication skills and don't get clingy or jealous, then what's the worst that could happen?"

She lets out nothing but honesty,"I never said I had great communication skills."
"It was implied. So what do you say?" He puts his hand out for her to shake and agree on the proposal. She looks at it then joins his hand and asks,"how long?"
"A year," Grayson suggests easily.
She disagrees which prompts him to ask her,"how long does it take you to say you love someone?"

Unimpressed, Brea hesitates to answer, knowing she's never been in love before.

"Six months, take it or leave it," she bargains.
He agreed and their hands meet firmly to shake, hers fitting in his like a glove.
With a confident smile on his face, Grayson promises Brea something, saying,"by the time this house is built, you'll be in love with me."

A STATEMENT:

I'm torn as to whether or not this is considered "Escapist fantasy" because while it is fantasy in the way that it's exaggerated and has few ideas that aren't particularly real, in the same token, the story has relatable characters, relationships, and plots. I intended for this to be left up for interpretation because I believe readers will bring their own perspective and make decisions on the theme themselves, anyway. Now, there's a lot of talk about the relationship between the main characters being "toxic". I do not glamorize toxicity, I simply wrote based on a ton of factors but mostly this is what I know, see, and feel the characters would do/say. I will not share my opinion on whether I think they're toxic or not. I wrote about a fictional couple and honestly made this all up as I went along. I've never been in a relationship but I do know bad things when I see them and I steer clear of that energy so it's not like I was writing what I was seeing. However, I was ignorant to the depth of toxic relationships up until AFTER writing this. I do not mean for anyone to read this story and think this is what romance is because I'm no expert and this is fiction. I have zero experience in the field of love, romance, and sex so it would be insane for anyone to view this and take anything serious away from it. Though, you do as you wish. I just don't wish for anyone to believe this is how relationships in the real world work and get their hopes up. A lot of this is mockery, too, I play at a lot of Hollywood and successful cliche Wattpad book tropes -- to the rich characters (or not rich but well off and comfortable), great sex (or not so great), extreme (or heightened, face-paced) circumstances — coincidences — to name a few. I may not be an experienced writer but I tackled this with a more producer and director way, seeing this as a movie since I'm big into that. So, nothing in this is done without a reason on purpose that I see fit and makes sense to me.
Again, this was not meant to glorify toxic relationships. I did not even know the relationship between the main characters was toxic until readers started saying so. To my knowledge I haven't triggered anyone yet but I will certainly apologize when/if it does! That was never my intention. I didn't even think this book would get over 100-1,000 views, to be completely honest.
