“Jairus,I like you!”I shouted at him.

“Will you stop saying that Nicole” he said without looking at me.

“It’s just a joke! Silly ”I said.

“You know that I hate jokes ”he said directly at me and looked away.

“Okay,okay.I get it” I said raising my two hands. I sighed. Why does he always take it as a joke?

“Nicole!” I heard Jen called my name. I look at the door.

“Yes?”

“Get out there! It’s already break time” she said and motioned her hand to get out of the room.

“Okay” I said then I got up from the chair I was sitting on a while ago. I got my sling bag from the chair and faced Jairus.

“Come on, they are waiting for us” I said and started to walk out the room.

By the way, we are here in the mall. We are not shopping but we are here because we are having our summer classes on learning how to play musical instruments. My focus this summer is playing the violin while Jairus is focusing on playing the piano. It’s our lunch break right now and we decided to go to one of the fast food chains in the mall.

“Nicole and Jairus, please find a table for us. I will be the one to order our food, my treat” Jen said.

“Okay” I said and started to look for a table. It is hard to find a vacant table right now because there are lots of people. After five minutes, I already spotted a vacant table for us. Jairus and I sat in silence while waiting for Jen and the others. I looked at Jairus who is sitting across me. He is playing a certain game in his phone. I sighed.

Three years ago, my mom decided to put me in a summer class institution for voice lessons and for playing musical instruments, at first I don’t really want to join because it’s not my type and I don’t have friends. My mom told me that the venue was at the mall, that’s why I directly told her that I will join. Then that’s the time when I met Jairus and my friends.

“Hey Jairus, is there something wrong? Why are you so silent?”I asked but instead of answering me, he just shrugged his shoulders.

“Are you angry at me? Why? Was it because of what I had said earlier?”I asked.

“Nicole I---“he did not finish his sentence because Jerome interrupted him.

“Hi Jairus and Nicole!What are you talking about?” he asked with a smirk while putting the tray with foods on our table, behind him are Jen and Mary.

“Nothing” I said while shaking my head.

We ate our food and talk about random stuffs.

“Tomorrow is the mall show presentation right?” Mary asked while holding a paper. She is already 16 years old. She is very friendly and she is the youngest in our group. I must admit that I’m more childish than her.
