CHAPTER -1(Re-written)

PAIN.....

I groaned.

All I could feel is pain. My whole body is aching. I tried to open my eyes, but I couldn't lift them. My back is hurting as I was lying on something hard. My whole body became numb. Slowly after some time, I was able to open my eyes. All I could see is dark.

Where am I?

It is night time. I looked around to find where I was, all I could see is long trees spread in a vast area. I can feel the pain slowly fading away. I got up from where I was lying that is on the ground. Why are my hands and dress are wet?. It smells metallic, and then it stuck it is blood.

I gasped, they are covered with blood. But whose?. It's not mine. It smells familiar.......

NOOOO....!DONNA I screamed........

Beep .. Beep. Beep...

I jolted awake from sleep, sweating profusely. Ohh God !not again, these nightmares became more frequent recently. How hard I try I cannot forget that it was as it happened yesterday. I don't even know will I be able to forget that ever in my life.

Sighing.., I got up from my bed and picked up my phone from the nightstand, it read 7:15 AM.

Hell, I'll be late for my job I need to get ready.

Heading to my tiny shower room I took my bath and brushed my teeth. Till I came out of the shower it was 7:30 so I still have plenty of time for my work.

Today is my first day as a medical researcher. It is after my one year break. It is after I lost-

My phone started ringing. Knowing who it is a smile crept on my face and picked it up immediately.

Hello dad, how are u? Do you know how much I missed you? I called yesterday your Secretary, Ken answered the call and said you were in the operation theater. How did the surgery go? and did you take your medicines??. Ken said you forgot to take them. How can you keep forgetting, I kept on rambling.

All I received is a loud laugh.

Dad answers me.

Are you done Peanut? .If you don't stop how would I answer.

Dad, I said in a tight voice.

I missed you to peanut and the surgery went well I even took my medicines. Ken was with me all the time he gave me the medicines from time to time and how can he not give when you strictly ordered him, he said with a little laugh.

A smile crossed my face.

Are you ready for your first day? I know you don't want to go anywhere but you should start living and know that you will have a beautiful life out.

I was silent the whole time I know he saying this because he loves me so much despite me not being a human, despite me being a Vampire. A freaking vampire who feeds blood in addition to that a virus-infected Vampire. Who is dangerous.

Maira, are you listening? dad asked breaking my train of thoughts.

Yes, dad, I'm ready.

Good, that's my peanut. Have you had your breakfast?

No dad I still have 20 minutes more to go.I'll have it in the meantime

No problem dad, you should be there in hospital it's your duty as a surgeon. You wished me its more than enough. So it's two more days for you to come from New York.

Yes, I will be back in two days, meanwhile, enjoy your day and make friends. Bye for now peanut. I love you a lot.

I hung up.

Feeling hungry I moved towards the freezer and took out my food which is a packet of blood. Animal blood. I don't feed on humans.

I gulped down the whole thing in no time so that I wouldn't be hungry until evening.

Next, I went to my bedroom and took the injection from the cupboard and injected it into my body. As soon as the yellow viscous liquid entered into my body a terrible pain erupted through my whole body I bit my lower lip hard to prevent the cry escaping from me bruising my lip. I could never accustom to the pain it causes.

My dad Nathan Benally is not my biological father. He is my mother's cousin. They were very close from childhood like own brother and sister. When they were twenty years old my mother disappeared suddenly. My grandparents searched for her everywhere, they thought she might be. As the days went they lost hope. They couldn't forget her so they thought to move from that place along with dad's parents. While traveling they met with a terrible accident, except dad who was severely injured, all died.

After many years he got a call from my mother saying that she was married. Dad was very angry with her because she was one of the reasons their parents died. He snapped at her and said to her never to communicate with him. He also said to her about her parent's demise. She was so shocked to hear the news.

After a few months, my mother came to dad's house bruises covering her body. She said she was married to a vampire so she couldn't come back. She also said that someone came to know about their existence and injected her a virus when she was pregnant with me.

She said they were very dangerous and came to take me away. She asked dad to help her to keep me with him and not to reveal that I was her daughter to anyone. She said she would contact him soon, gave him a book along with me, and said that in the book was written all about me.

Dad didn't accept initially because he was angry at her and didn't believe her but when he saw the one-year-old me he finally agreed.

As days passed my mother never contacted us. Dad tried every possible way to get to her but it went vain. He couldn't get any information about my biological father.

Here I'm the lone vampire in this human world along with a dangerous virus.
