Death.
It’s a part of ‘being human’ as it’s called.
People are always saying how they want to go out with a bang, with a grand parade in their name.
Life doesn’t end like that.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place here.
There’s always that moment before you die.
That moment of infinite fear before the last breath,
Trying to stem the flow of blood, watching the approaching train or that last painful intake of what was meant to be air, but instead was water.
People are always saying how they passed peacefully, where their heart just stopped and they discontinued breathing.
Life isn’t like that.
People don’t ‘pass’ peacefully.
They die leaving a trail of unanswered questions and loose emotions.
They fight till the very last second, no matter what it looks like on the outside.
Then they’re gone, living in the memories of their friends and loved ones.
There is no ‘white light’ as much as I would like to believe otherwise.
Even if you try or succeed committing suicide,
there are those moments of hesitation before you jump
when you’re staring at a knife or looking down the barrel of a gun.
After everything you’ve been through, your subconscious is still telling you to wait.
Death is a part of life, no matter which way you look at it.
There is no sudden stop, it’s the slow grinding to a halt that torments everyone.
But I guess this is what makes life worth living.
