Chapter 1
The Lost Got Found
Beneath the dark forest, lived a troll named Carrie. A troll is a supernatural being, often represented as of diminutive size, but sometimes as a giant, and fabled to inhabit caves, hills, and like places. Carrie had been lurking in the night to collect lost things from the park that the humans left after a picnic or occasion. Carrie together with her puppy named Santi walked along the dark alley of the forest.
The wind wailed between distorted trunks, carrying the sickly stink of wood rot. Carrie and Santi moved faster. Carrie ignored the briars that caught her favourite dress. Suddenly, Santi stopped and barked continuously on a big old tree. Something had caught Santi’s attention. Carrie looked around and tried to smell any signs of danger. She tried to examine what Santi had found.
There was a silky pink hooded thing that seemed to hide itself on the tip of the old tree. The old tree had a huge nest like grown up roots on it that can be used as a hiding place or sleeping area for medium size animals. Carrie inspected the silky pink hooded thing and was taken aback on what she had seen. It is a little girl within the age of eight or nine. The little girl had long curly blonde hair. Why on earth did the little girl fall asleep on the dark forest?
Carrie tried her very best to ignore the little girl. She had nothing to do with this girl. Why would she care? She abhorred kids. Kids are messy and annoying. Santi wagged its tail and barked at her. Whenever Santi did that, it means pleading. She felt a pinch in her heart. She didn’t have a choice, did she? The little girl could be the meatiest prey that any human eating animals could devour in the dark forest. They could eat her raw or cooked and served her as a midnight snack. A midnight snack? Poor little girl.
Carrie snapped back to reality. She hated herself for caring that much. She turned to Santi and said.
“Santi—shhh.. “ Carrie hushed.
However Santi gave her a “have pity on her” look that seemed so irresistible. The puppy brushed its tail to her legs. Whenever Santi did that, it would mean pleading.
“So you want to keep her, huh? Okay. But just for tonight...” Carrie said.
Carrie tapped the shoulders of the little girl carefully. The little girl might be scared of her when she opens her eyes. That was the usual reactions of humans when they see a troll. She brushed her thoughts off. The little girl opened her eyes slowly.
