Alexanders POV

It was quiet in central park. It was nearly midnight and not many people were around. My hands were in my coat pockets being shielded from the cold end of November air. Thanksgiving had passed by and for the first time in years we didn't have a party at home. I wasn't in the holiday mood this year, not with my heart aching at the thought of Skylar killing my father.

My hands gripped the ring in my pocket. The ring I couldn't bring myself to return or throw away. It had been sitting in my pocket since the night I found out everything. I kept staring at it, holding on to it. I chuckled to myself as I felt the small ring around my fingers. It was funny how I was so sure I was going to marry Skylar. How I was so sure that I would ask her to marry me on Christmas day. It all seems so unreal now.

I was pulled out of my thoughts as a small figure approached me. The text I got set a small park in Seattle as the meeting place. I didn't know exactly who I was meeting here but I had a hunch, so I got on my jet and flew to Seattle. A middle-aged woman with short salt and pepper hair, she had the same dark brown eyes as Skylar and even the same nose. She was wearing a black coat and scarf around her neck.

"Mr. Alexander Valentino" she said while giving me a determined look. "My name is Clarisse Diamond and I need to speak to you." She continued as she took a seat in the bench next to me.

"How may I help you Mrs. Diamond? Or rather why should I help you, given what you, your daughter and your husband have done to my family?" I fired back.

She sighed quietly "I know that you must have some reservations about my husband, but I assure you that I am no Maxwell Diamond, in fact I wish him a fate worse than death. As for Skylar, I assure you Mr. Valentino she is the most innocent in all of this."

"She killed my father." I countered.

"No, she didn't. I wouldn't blame you for not believing a word I'm saying but Mr. Valentino, you need to believe me when I say that Skylar did not kill Nelson Valentino."

"How do you explain the file I saw. Specifically saying that Skylar killed my father."

"Lies" was all she said. Before my confused look caused her to elaborate. "When Maxwell sent Skylar on the mission to kill your father, he knew Skylar was not ready to kill someone so soon. He knew Skylar would fail but he wanted to break her. So, he sent his favorite dog Mendez to make sure Skylar would at least believe she made the kill. Nobody knew this but I was there last night, watching. I couldn't protect Skylar from a lot of things, but I watched her closely and found out things that Maxwell doesn't even know I know." She spaced out a bit before continuing.

"That night Skylar didn't even take the shot. She was so freaked out, she blacked out, next thing she knew, she heard a shot and saw your father dead. She assumed she did it but it was Mendez. He took the shot that killed your father, not Skylar." She handed me an envelope. "I know you won't believe me just like that, so I brought some evidence."

In the envelope were three pictures. The three pictures showed that guy Mendez. I remember him from when Skylar took him down at Site X. The photos showed him taking the shot that killed my father. Clarisse Diamond was telling the truth. Skylar didn't kill my father and she didn't even know she didn't do it.
