When Ara woke the next day, she was just as tired as when she fell on her bed the night before. Bags were visible under her eyes and her back had a harsh pain, but that didn't prevent her from getting up and getting dressed so that she could go back to the bar. As she walked through her house, Junghee was laying across the couch, an empty drink in his hand. She shook her head in disappointment and walked out of the door.
The day seemed slow the moment she walked out the door. It was cloudy, though no rain threatened to fall. There weren't as many cars on the road where she was walking; all the people seemed to be on the other side of town working in their comfy offices. But she didn't have a nice office. She worked for her money, and she always held on to that. She reminded herself that she was better than the men that pranced around the busy side of Seoul as she walked down the concrete sidewalk.
"I'm here!" She called out to Holee, and the petite woman popped her head around the corner of the small bar counter.
"Oh hello, dear!" She said as Ara caught her attention. A few customers had already made their way into the bar to get some breakfast, something for which Holee's bar was well known. She made western breakfast, and everyone seemed to enjoy it rather well. "Vernon is in the back making eggs, I'm sure he would like some help if you would go back there and help." Ara nodded happily, making her way back to the kitchen.
"A little birdy told me you're making some eggs," she poked, bumping him with her hip. He chuckled and looked over at her.
"Good Morning sunshine. You look like hell," he smirked before receiving a punch in the arm from Ara. He let out a whine and she let out a laugh She ruffled his blonde hair and grabbed some more eggs to help him cook.
Vernon was a fair-sized, fairly skinny boy, around Ara's age. He was mixed: His mom was western, and his dad was Korean. Somehow he found his way into the heart of Korea. At first glance, it wasn't obvious that he was mixed, but he had his mom's hair, and he didn't have monolids.
"So, yesterday I saw the most beautiful shade of blue!" Vernon started to gush. Ara rolled her eyes. "The color of the sky is so different now."
"Don't remind me. I still don't see any colors like you describe them," Ara complained.
"It's probably because you don't leave this damn bar. Come on, get out more," he complained. "All you do is whine about how you want your soulmate to show up," Vernon said, as red started to fade from her hair. "Maybe you should start paying more attention to things other than work."
"I need the money!"
"Oh, I need the money my ass!" Vernon sassed. "I've got the food. Go help Holee serve." Ara nodded and turned to walk out of the kitchen. As she walked, her ponytail waved back and forth, red bleeding from her long, straight hair. Vernon sighed, turned around, and began to cook the food again.
Ara walked out of the kitchen and towards the tables. Holee was over picking up some plates as a few other workers worked at the bar or washing dishes.
Ara walked over to grab her notebook and apron. Taking orders was her usual, and she was pretty good at it too, she thought. She walked over to a table of two boys around the same age of her and Vernon, maybe a little older.
One had long hair that came down to his shoulders and the strands were straight and shiny. His features were masculine but they looked more feminine with the cascading gray-tinted blonde hair that draped onto his shoulders.
The other sat with a smirk, having catlike eyes that seemed to sparkle at first sight. He looked attractive not in a sexy way, but in a way that was charming like a prince. His skin was fair and even. He looked as if he spoke very softly, and he seems very gentle himself. An aura of chivalry was just forming around him.
