Locked in

I can hear you in there

It was very late at night and in Natalie's house was silence until she hears a thump downstairs
It's probably just mom She thought
She looked over and saw Garret sleeping soundly on an air mattress, he only looks calm when he's asleep
Natalie starts hearing thumps that sound like someone coming up the stairs
"Garret!" She whispers and pokes him
"What." He groans barely awake
"I think there's someone in the
house" Garret bolts up hearing a thump that sounds right down the hallway
"Maybe it's just your mom" He cautiously gets up and right as he reaches for the handle
It starts turning
Garret lunges and holds it shut
"I can hear you in there" a deep voice says, they couldn't identify who it was
So he opens it quick and sees a tall man but it was too dark to make out figures
Garret reaches for the light switch and turns on the light
It's Jack
He throws a punch at Garret hitting him clean in the eye
Garret pushes Jack out of the room almost throwing him over the railing but he ends up getting shoved back into the bright room
Natalie fumbles to call the police
It rings twice
"Hello 911 what is your emergency?"
"There is a man in my house, he's fighting my friend" She manages to chirp out trembling
"I live on 655 rainwood street"
"We will send the police over there as soon as possible"
Jack and Garret are still fighting, Garret gives him a good punch and jack falls backwards. He pauses and looks at Natalie, his eyebrows furrow
Jack tries fo lunge at her but Garret tackles him to the ground
Suddenly they hear a siren right outside the house and see red and blue lights out the window
The front door bursts open
"Up here officers!" Garret yells alerting the police to the upstairs
They storm up the stairs and handcuff jack and take him out to the police car
"Did you know that man?" One police man starts asking questions
"I did, we used to be friends" Natalie thinks he may have broken in to get revenge
"Yeah he tried to have sex with her but she didn't want that, so he tried to force it on her" Garret blurts out
"We'll take him down to the station and contact you for further notice, stay safe you guys" They get back in the car and drive off turning off their lights
Garret hugs her tight, she looks up at him
"Hey your lip is bleeding" she touches his lip wiping away the blood
He smiles
"Don't worry about me Nat" He licks the blood off his lips
"I assume you want me to stay over and protect you from any more Jack's?" He teases
"Actually Yeah please stay" Natalie says still obviously shaken up

Natalie laid awake all night too paranoid to sleep. She thought about what had happened going back through the month
Jack took an interest in her and started glancing at her to see what she was doing every once in awhile
One day when she had dropped her folder he went to help her pick them up and knocked into her, he introduced himself and seemed like a nice guy
He drove her home one day, learned about her dad and got to comfort her. Before he had left they embraced and he kissed her on the forehead
He came over a few days after and they made out and he tried to pull her clothes off of her but was kicked out of the house
Then he broke into her house. Fought with Garret and was arrested

Holy shit. She thought
What a weird month
She was taken over by the feeling of fatigue and fell asleep immediately
