When I got home, my "dad" was waiting at the door.
"Kamiko! What have you done this time? You get a detention almost every day! Go to your room right this instant. I'll be locking the door, so don't get any ideas." He shouted, pulling me to my room. He hated me and you can tell that he was forced into adopting me. You see, I used to live on the streets and just steal things to stay alive. I got arrested and then they made him adopt me. Why? I don't know. Anyway, he pushed me into my room and locked the door behind him.
There wasn't a TV, a computer or anything in my room, not even a bed. I just slept on the broken sofa that used to live in the lounge. Since I had nothing else to do, I picked up the book. The front and back were covered in black leather, and there was silvery writing inside, telling you how to use it.
Since I could barely read, I ignored that part. And then I saw it. A big black thing with a white face, yellow teeth and bloodshot eyes appeared in my room.
"Got any apples?" It said, sitting on the sofa. I backed away slowly, trying to get out of the door. Then I remembered that the damn thing was locked. My "dad" must have heard me trying to get out, and he shouted that he wasn't going to let me out.
"Oh, yeah. Let me introduce myself. The name's Ryuk." He said.
Wait... Ryuk? Did he know something about Light Yagami? I was sure that I had heard something about his shinigami being called something like that.
"That's your death note. You use it to kill people. Write someone's name in it." Ryuk said, "Become the new Kira, if you want. I know of your love for Light Yagami. I knew him too."
