"This is such a bad idea" Callie said, not turning around just stating a fact. "I just want to go on record saying that" she added, knowing full well that she didn't even need to say that at all because everyone was thinking exactly that. Spinning around rather fast she smiled to herself at the reflection in her long wall mirror in her bedroom. Her dark hair was thrown into a messy bun to keep it from her eyes, neck and back. She was heading off to yet another training session and her brother Andreas was lounging on her bed like every morning. She studied him for a moment, wondering if she could just stare at him in a certain way she might be able to read his thoughts or to know what he was really thinking but instead he just smiled up at her. "Cal, come on this is quite possibly the worst idea anyone has ever had but we both know that you're ready?" Callie couldn't help but chuckle at that, an impossible mission? yeah of course she was ready. She would never be ready for this. No amount of training or practice would prepare her and if she let that doubt creep in far enough she would see just how impossible this was going to be. "for the impossible, sure Andre, I know you of all people would take a trial like this, with no questions but this is just-" Andre got up from her bed and suddenly he was just an inch or two taller than his little sister, well adopted little sister technically but that didn't really matter they've both lived twenty one years only knowing that they were brother and sister and the new information that Callie was in fact adopted wouldn't change anything but biology. "come on, I know you're scared but you don't need to be, you have me, always cal" the smile that crept upon Callie's face was no surprise to Andre because they always know how to cheer one another up,
Callie stepped away from Andre as she observed her outfit. The same as the rest of the academy because it made it easier for the staff at the academy to make sure all students were reminded that they were all equals and the tutors and professors were better, older, wiser and more experienced than everyone else. The school days start early with a session with your private tutor at 5:30 which is basically just a drill session out in the field or in the gymnasium. then the second class starts at 6.30 which for Callie is advanced math, very very boring. Breakfast is at 7am then 7:30 is her third class which is advanced greek, all the 1st years start out with latin and once they are fluent they then move on to learn greek, you see all students are required to be fluent in speaking, writing and reading both latin and greek. Being that the academy is located in Agia,Greece. 8:30 is her fourth class which is advanced combat skills. 9:30 is her second session of the day with her private tutor, after that she has an hour to shower and prepare for it Lab which starts at 11:30 then lunch at 13:30 which last for an hour, then at 14:30 is sixth class English literature and her last class of the day at 15:30 is archery which might seem ancient and irrelevant but at this academy they prepare their students not for college or university but how to hunt and kill the supernatural vampires and were creatures so it's rather an important class in fact even though it's her last class of the day it's by no means an easy class as it will result in 50% of her final class.
Most student try to do their best at the end of her senior year of high school but students at the Larisis academy simply need a pass, failure means they won't graduate the academy which means they are thrown back into the world as a civilian, those who graduate go on to become the hunters of the future and exceptional students in their 9th or 10th year are usually offered a trial, a sort of final test that if they complete the task they automatically pass no matter what their final results from their class exams. Most trials usually become the hunters first kill as long as they complete the trial of course. Students at the academy usually never know when someone is offered a trail until afterwards because the student either graduates or leaves Greece completely. Everyone always imagines what they will say if they are offered a trial, how they will react and Callie along with Andreas also considered it too, everyone thought if anyone in their 10th year would be offered a trial it would be a boy named Linus or Andreas as they are the top of their class and everyone in the whole school knows they will pass, no questions asked because they are what is referred to as natural hunters. Although all students are descendents of hunters anyway there are those few who just take to the skills and life of a hunter so much faster than others and those are just destined to be hunters and they know it. Andre would never say that to Callie but they both know it.
