~(y/n) pov~

Me and Neil were walking home when I noticed Norman walking alone. Neil noticed me looking at Norman so he grabbed my hand and started running to Norman. I blushed. He was the only person who knew I liked Norman.

"Hey! Norman! Wait up!" he shouted, waving his lunch box to get his attention. It definitely did. He stopped and let go of my hand when we were next to him.

"I keep telling you, Neil. I-I like to be alone." Norman said.

"So do we! Let's do it together!" Neil said.

Norman looked at me and I shrugged with a 'just roll with it' look on my face.

"You shouldn't let them get you down." Neil said, talking about Alvin and his friends. "They always do stuff like that to us."

"Why?" Norman said.

"Because I'm fat, and my allergies make my eyes leak, and I sweat when I walk to fast, and I have a lunch box with a kitten on it." he listed. "Oh! And I have irritable bowel syndrome. I guess there's a whole bunch of stuff."

"And for me, it's just the rumor." I said.

"Doesn't it bother you?" Norman said.

"Nah, you can't stop bullying, it's part of human nature." Neil said. "If you were bigger and more stupider, you'd probably be a bully too."

I punched his shoulder for saying that.

"What? It's called 'survival of the thiccest.'" Neil said, saying it wrong.

"PSSST!" someone said.

All three of us looked up at the witch statue.

"That statue just 'psst' at us." Neil whispered.

Just then, the old crazy guy that lives up the hill peeked out from behind the statue, looking really creepy.

"You know who I am?" he said.

"The weird, sticky, old bum who lives up the hill?" Neil said.

"I was asking them!" he said, pointing at me and Norman.

"Yeah, I-I know you." Norman said, grabbing my hand as he backed away from him. "I was told not to talk to you. Sorry."

"And you know why you're not suppose to talk to me?" he said.

"Because you're weird and crazy?" I said.

"I can see ghosts, too!" he said.

'Wait, what?! How does he know I can see ghosts?! I don't even know this guy!!' I thought.

"And I know that's not all you've been seeing lately, is it?" he said. "Bad omens? Things you can't quite explain. Strange faces peering through the veil?"

He pushed us to that statue. "And I bet no one told you two about the witch's curse, did they?"

"Actually, we're learning about it in school." Norman said.

"Oh! Oh! I'm a tree!" Neil said and the man sighed.

"There's something you really need to know." he said, walking towards us, backing us back up and Norman putting a protective arm in front of me.

"It's the most important thing you will ever hear! The fate of everyone depends on it! Now listen close, the witch's curse is real! And you two are the only ones who has to stop it!" he said.

"You've got to *cough* use your gift *cough* of talking to the dead! If you don't*cough cough*" he started coughing a lot and getting closer to us. "Oh! And this is the most important thing of all! You've got *wheeze* You've got *wheeze cough*" he then got hit in the face with an apple.
