It is in a child's smile where innocence and affection is present. In a world like this, one forgets how to think simply and enjoy the little things. As they would say, a single person could change your entire life but your actions are the only ones that could define you.

It all started in a cold, stormy night. The wind was howling, drizzles of rain drops poured down

clamorously, all doors where shut and families held tightly to each other. Every house was filled with

warmth and comfort despite the outrageous weather except for one dark, shabby house that had old, gray trees surrounding it.

It was Mr. Eric Chyde's residence, found at the end of the village in the state of San Diego. "Elen! Where are you?" a voice roared on the whistling sound of the rain.

"I'm right here! Papa is home, I'll never leave you again," continued Eric, a man who had broad shoulders and a deep voice. He desperately looked for his daughter all over the house, down the hallway, in the kitchen and in the veranda. He finally went upstairs to his daughter's room.

Opening the door, he did not find anyone, just the sweet smell of burning incense and the loud clanging of the window. His eyes drifted from one object to another until his eyes focused on a note found on Elen's desk. The note looked like scribble, as if the person who wrote it was in a rush.

He looked more closely and the note said, "I'm off to look for Papa. I can't take it anymore. -Elen." Right after reading the very last word, he heard a blaring honk from a car that made his heart leap. He rushed to the nearest window and he saw what he could not bear to look at.

At that instant, tears rushed from his eyes as he hastily went downstairs. It was Elen, she had been ran over. The car left at a blink of an eye and Eric just stood there blankly. Still stunned by the incident, he gently touched the hands of Elen. Her skin was pale

blue. She was as cold as ice and her eyes were lifeless. Eric started sobbing as he gasped for breath.

He yelled in the lone road, "Someone has to pay! My daughter's soul cries for justice!"

The rain poured even heavier and Eric cried in pain.

Days after, Elen was buried and Eric promised to his daughter that he would do anything to avenge her death. Eric's mind was corrupted by anger and vengeance as each day grew until he finally decided that he would kill the person who ran over his daughter. He still remembered the exact features of the car, its rims were silver and windows were tinted with a dark blue shade. It marked a nostalgic memory barely forgotten.

Eric started his search little by little until he found what he was looking for. Exactly a week since the death of Elen, he found the man who was to be blamed. Eric hid near a bush found just across as he peered out to the house that was 2 stories tall. It had elegant white pillars and a path walk swarmed by yellow ornamental lights that led to the front porch step. Eric gingerly walked towards the house as he knocked on the door. To his surprise, it was opened by a short man who looked like he was in his late 40s and had jewelry all over his body.

He spoke with a high pitched voice, "What do you want? Screw off. It's 3 am in the morning and ----."

Before the man could even finish, Eric had drawn his knife and stabbed the man right in his chest. The man's face widened and he collapsed right away. A moment after, a woman's voice called from upstairs. "Edward! The baby is crying again." Eric climbed up the gold-colored spiral stairs and he saw the woman standing in front of him. She had a questioned face and her blonde hair flew naturally.

"Who are you?" the woman asked.

Eric then retorted, "That is not your concern, madam."

He jabbed his blade onto the woman and blood came out quickly until she just laid there breathlessly. Eric hastily washed his hands soaked in blood and left immediately. Just before he stepped outside, he heard a crack. He picked up the object that he had stepped on. It was a golden locket decorated with spirals. He opened the it and a lullaby played as he saw a picture of the man and the woman with their little girl. Eric stared for a while but since the sunrise is nearing, he had to go.
