'No' Lydia sighed as she held a blue top up to Allison, it didn't look great. 'I'm thinking red, black, yellow and green' she said, twirling her curled hair around her finger thoughtfully.

'I have black clothes' admitted Allison, her forehead coming down into a frown. 'But as for the other colours... I do like red though'

'Maybe we can go shopping? ' suggested Lydia putting the top back in Allison's sparse wardrobe and flouncing around to face her new best friend. 'You'll need lots of good clothes I'd you'll be going on more dates with Scott. There's a Macy's in the mall. '

'Yeah, that sounds great! ' dimpled Allison happily. 'I really like Scott and it's true I don't have many clothes because we travel around so often... I really hope we stay here for a while though'

'Tommorow? ' asked Lydia, she always had time for shopping and the maths paper for the online university course she was taking that was due in a few days could wait. It wasn't too hard to be quite honest.

'I'll have to ask my parents' admitted Allison, frowning. 'But they're out at the moment with Kate. Let me text my mum quick... '

Allison had just got her phone out and started typing when the doorbell rang and she jumped up.

'I should get that' she said.

'No, don't worry' said Lydia already heading for Allison's bedroom door.

'If you're sure... ' said Allison. 'It's probably just my Mum, Dad and Kate back, I don't even know why I'm trying to text her.. I'll come with you'

Allison followed Lydia down the stairs

'Where were they? ' asked Lydia, admiring the wall colour.

'I don't know... some sort of meeting with these guys Dad works with' Lydia wasn't looking at Allison but she could hear the frown in her voice, touchy subject then. She decided to not mention it again.

There was another impatient sounding knock at the door.

'I'm coming' yelled Allison, darting in front of Lydia and unlocking the door.

'Scott? ' Lydia heard her say and she rolled her eyes. This McCall guy was ridiculous like a little puppy following Allison around all the time. If Allison wasn't quite as gone on him she'd suggest someone else.

'What are you doing here? Not that I'm complaining! ' Allison laughed as Lydia came up behind her.

Lydia thought that Stiles boy who'd stolen her book by accident earlier would even be a better candidate than Scott. He was friends with the puppy-like teenager but didn't share his dopey nature. Stiles was whip smart and, judging by the way he hadn't been putting up with Scott's rubbish lately, he might be learning that stalking girls was a bad idea.

'Who's that with you' Lydia vaguely registered Allison saying.

Hopefully, Stiles would stop stalking her and rhapsodising poems about Lydia's hair if she found him a date...

'Oh, okay then' said Allison. 'Lydia? '

'Yeah? ' said Lydia, thought track interrupted.

'Is it okay if I pop out with Scott for 5 minutes? I'm going to say hi to his uncle'

'Sure' said Lydia. 'I'll wait in the kitchen. I'm thirsty'

Allison beamed and shut the front door saying 'Let me in when I knock, I'd leave the door open but it makes the house freezing'

Lydia walked slowly into the kitchen, trailing her fingers along the wall. She hadn't realised Scott had an uncle but for all her intelligence she supposed she'd never really spoken to Scott properly.

She searched through the cupboards for a cup, coming across jars of odd black and purple powders she didn't recognize next to the bleach, washing up liquid, plastic bags and window cleaner: a utility cupboard.

Lydia examined the jars looking for a label and not finding one. She guiltily nabbed two resealable bags and upon finding a spoon, put a little bit of each substance in a bag.

Cursing her scientific mind, she pocketed them (handy that her cardigan had pockets) to study in the chemistry lab tomorrow. She'd never usually do this and she could probably just ask Allison but something about the powders made her unusually curious, desperate to know more. It was like they were asking to be pocketed.

Lydia shut the cupboard, tossing her hair. She'd ask Allison anyway, she decided though she kept the samples.

'Where are the cups... ' Lydia muttered to herself, searching once more. She found them eventually in a cupboard the opposite side of the room to the sink. Not very practical.

Lydia poured herself a glass of water from the filter jug on the side and sighed.

Where was Allison? It had been 10 minutes now probably. Maybe Scott's uncle was very chatty.

Sipping her water, Lydia wandered towards Allison's front window. Back to the issue of Stiles: she'd overheard him asking Danny if he was attractive to gay guys so he was probably questioning (and given his obsession with Lydia) possibly bi.

Maybe she'd ask Danny if he'd bring Stiles along with him to Jungle. With a face as pretty as Stiles' he was sure to get on there like a riot because yes, judging by clichés and the looks on the faces of gay men who saw Stiles he was attractive to gay guys.

Or perhaps, she could set up Stiles with a girl (not Allison), Erica Reyes, the quiet epileptic girl had a crush on him and she'd really come out of her shell lately, possibly because it'd been a while since her last episode: Lydia had overheard the staff talking about her having a new breakthrough medicine.

Lydia finished off her water as she arrived at the window, there was no sign of Allison, Scott or an Uncle outside just a silver Audi she didn't recognise.

Lydia frowned. She was worried for a second before she realised that Allison, unlike Scott, could lie and had probably made up an uncle as an excuse to make out with Scott.

Lydia huffed and was about to settle in for the long haul when there was a rap at the door.

Odd, they'd probably just been out of her line of vision.

Lydia walked over to the door and, quickly figuring out the locking system, opened it.

To find a complete strangers, she raised an eyebrow.

'Are you Lydia Martin' the man asked smoothly and Lydia realised that there was an uncle after all and this was him.

'Yes' Lydia smiled. 'Do you know where-'

Lydia was abruptly cut off as the man lunged forwards, landing on top of her.

'Excuse me-! ' Lydia protested shrilly trying not to panic as the man (probably not Scott's uncle after all) regarded her smiling with.... With.... Glowing red eyes?

Lydia screamed as the man lunged again, sinking impossibly sharp teeth into the juncture between her shoulder and neck.

The pain was so acute she couldn't even think as she passed out: vision swirling and fading to black.
