As I walk down the road, towards my inevitable doom, I think of all the reasons I'm doing this. All the once good things, that darkened into something more, and just like that I get sucked in.

"Sweetie, get down from or there you'll hurt yourself." my mom shouts to me. "I'm fine mommy, it's just a tree." I hear my seven year old self say. Then she falls, and I come back. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I gasp, that one was more real than the last, I can still feel the dull ache, the pain in my ribs from when I'd broken two of them. It happened around three months ago, the darkening. Then as the days went by, the darker they got. And now I'm at the point where I can barely see anymore. So, I had the grand idea of finding them on my own. The only place they could be, logically, is the house of La Morte. That's the nearest coven. So, that's where I'm headed. I stick my thumb out as I see a pick-up truck pass me. It keeps going but seeing my thumb in the rearview he slows down and turns around. Only stopping when the cab of his truck is sitting next to my stilled form. "Where you headed hun?" he ask me, as his eyes run over me. Either checking me out or checking to see if I'm the murder type. Uneasiness runs over his eyes, then acceptance. "Just down this road a little farther. On the right." I say, huh, guess it was the latter. "Cool, hop on in. What's your name?" he said, as I climbed into the pick-up. "Hall, Jaylee Hall." I lied, not like I'm gonna tell this guy my real name. I don't like lying, I almost always look suspicious when I lie. Somehow this time it worked, probably because this could be life or death, more so since he's a guy and way stronger than me and my mere noodle arms. I really should start working out. "Whatcha thinking bout over there?" he said in his slight southern accent. "Just about how you might be the last human I see for a while. I'm gonna miss this. Seeing people breathe, blush." I say truthfully, it's nice not lying. "Oh dear Jesus, you're one of them aren't you. Great, just perfect." he says pulling over. He starts again, "I really didn't want to kill you but- hey where are you going?" I know it's rude not to answer someone but I was too busy running for my life. I look back to see him pull a German/ Romanian Dagger out from under his seat and I turned my head back around running even faster now that I see my murder weapon. I don't want to die, not like this. Then I tripped and everything quickly went black. The darkness had finally consumed me, it's nice.
