I watched the policeman standing in front of my cell drop to the floor. I don't know what killed him. That probably should worry me. He could've been poisoned. This could be another one of my dad's sick plots.
Or worse, my uncle.
Either way, I was sick of jail. And this was a good distraction.
Reaching through the bars, I stole the spare pair of key chains that the officer had kept in his back pocket. He had been a chatty fellow and forgetful, too, both of which gave me an edge in this situation. Still, I felt bad. He'd actually been really nice to me, passing messages between me and Chase, even though technically we weren't supposed to talk to each other.
Then again, I did slip him twenty bucks each time. Figured I might as well put my dad's stolen money back in the hands of the law.
Slipping the keys into my back pocket and then retreating into the back corner of my cell, I leaned my head back and closed my eyes, so it looked like I was asleep. Hopefully they wouldn't take as much suspicion of me this way.
It didn't really matter. I just needed enough time to get out, grab Chase, and go. Still, it would be nice to not have to shoulder the blame for something I didn't cause.
Although, maybe if I had said something, told the officer about his impending doom, he would still be alive. Maybe he could've received medical help. Then again, I'd only ever been able to change one person's clock.
Paige.
A/n-hey, i'm back. sorry for the short chapter, but this is just to try and get me back into the swing of things. anyway, next chapter should be out sometime soon.
