"Shhh, why'd you talk so loud?"
"Charlotte it's like 9 in the morning everyone should be awake,"
"You don't know my neighbours, and don't call me Charlotte."
I found the keys right where Grace said she'd left them. After bumping into matty we went for some coffee. I called Finn and told him I wasn't feeling too well so I was going to take the day off, a little white lie never hurt anybody. Matty and I were now in my apartment. I told myself that I needed to go back to my apartment to get my keys incase anyone stole them, but the reality of the situation was half an hour in the coffee shop was just not enough time. So I asked him back to the apartment for some more coffee. We sat across from each other at my wooden table that grace had stolen from her grandparents (by stolen I mean begged that she could have it as we could barely afford knives and forks). We stared at each other for a while in a comfortable silence, I started smirking. "What?" He asked also smirking.
"You look..." I searched for the right word to use, "different," I decided.
"So do you."
"How so?"
"Your hairs longer." It's true my hair was longer, but that was only due to the fact I had neglected going to the hairdressers for quite some time now.
"We're acting like we've known each other for years, I've barely known you five minutes," I said. He looked at me for a while, registering what I was saying.
"Nice apartment."
"Nice subject change." He smiled, that matty smile.
"So what are you doing now charlotte?" I shot him a very displeased look.
"Charlie." He corrected
"I'm currently in university studying law."
"Law?" He questioned,
"Yes why?"
"I just didn't have you down as a law kind of girl,"
"Well what did you have me down as?"
"Something fun and interesting." My eyebrows closed together as I scowled at him.
"I'm sorry I don't mean to offend your future profession I just can't see you in a court room all day in a grey skirt down to your ankles. I can see you in a studio painting, or outside taking photographs, or acting on stage, or-"
"You don't know me." I interrupted.
"I know." He said, "but I'd like too." I smirked at him from across the table. He looked so cool. His hair was so curly almost out of control, but I liked it. His shaven sides had grown back and been replaced by the unruly set of curls. His fingers were all cut, I'm guessing from playing guitar so much. He looked so tired. His eyes looked tired. They had bags under them and I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for him. He looked out my window and I had to force myself not to stare at him for any longer. He had a face straight out of a magazine. I suppose he really did considering I had seen him and his band in countless number of magazines.
"It's your last show tonight isn't it." I said interrupting the silence.
"Yes." He said, and then as an after thought added, "are you coming?" I stared down at my coffee mug and watched as the steam rose. Grace did still have the tickets and I suppose I have nothing to loose now.
"Yes." I said
"Cool." He smiled,
"I'll be amongst one of the many screaming fans that crave your attention,"
"What can I say? The fans adore me," he said whilst looking away as if to do the 'look out into the distance pose' I couldn't help but laugh. Again I found myself wanting to ask him so many questions, I wanted to get to know the real Matthew Healy.
"I should probably go now." He said whilst getting up. "It was really nice seeing you again Charlotte," he smirked, he was never going to quit it no.
"Matthew if you don't stop calling me Charlotte I will be forced to hurt you." He laughed. "It was nice seeing you too matthew,"
We walked over towards my door and I opened it for him.
"The coffee was great," he said whilst leaning up against the open door. I didn't reply I just looked at him. He looked so cool. He had sunglasses on his head even though the weather was horrible and the clouds were practically black preventing any light from shining through. He stared right back at me and I could feel him analysing every part of me. He leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. He pulled away but stopped right in front of my face. He was now so close our noses were millimetres from touching.
"See you later Charlotte." My heart was caught, my breathing increased rapidly although it felt like I wasn't breathing at all, like my lungs were empty.
"Goodbye matthew," I managed to say. I closed the door and slid down so I was now sitting on my wooden floors. Holy shit.
