High school.

It had always kind of been Akemi's kryptonite, something she only stayed in so she didn't have to be home. Didn't have to be with them.

She rarely said anything, always making sure she had good grades so she could apply for scholarship and get into college. That way her parents couldn't take it away from her.

But, the move had impacted her. Severely. Moving in the middle of a term? It was just stupid. She would know no one, and once again, would end up the "weird kid". Or the brainiac. She was both at her old school.

Fingers fiddling with the strap on her bag, she chewed at her lip, subconsciously tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear, not liking it in her face. She was wearing denim jeans, a grey pullover and black converses. Nothing to make her be noticed. Ever.

In her mind, being noticed was bad. Horribly so. Of course, friends came with being noticed, but she was more than happy being along with Tad--her stray cat and study buddy on long nights.

Shaking her head, she walked in, adjusting the strap on her shoulder. The bell would ring in a bit. She just prayed she was the first one in class. Maybe she could get a seat in the back, then.

Levi sat with his legs up on his desk, his black jeans and boots dangling over the edge. He smoothed out his dark grey T-shirt, moving his hair from his eyes slightly. The door opened, and a girl entered. As the bell rang, the teacher, Ms. Henn, said, "Ackerman. Feet off the desk. Just because you're in here for two classes one after another does not mean you can make yourself at home."

Levi said, "Tch."

He eyed the new girl before moving and repositioning himself in the 'normal' sitting position.

Akemi blushed under all of their stares, fidgeting. The teacher looked at her, making her blush further. "Miss... Mo, am I correct?" The teacher, Mrs. Henn, asked.

Nodding, Akemi fiddled with the strap of her bag some more.

"Welcome to Discreet Math. Take a seat." She said, waving her off.

Akemi panicked, looking up. There were two seats left. One at the very front, and one next to a quite scary looking person. Making a split second decision, she headed towards the one at the front.

/Invisible. You're invisible./

Levi eyed the new girl. /Prissy maybe?/

He stared at her, occasionally adjusting his bandana around his neck. When the bell for their lunch rang, Levi walked to her desk, looking at her. "So. Mo right? You antisocial or something?"

Akemi blushed, slowly shutting her notebook. "N-no." She stammered, keeping her eyes on the floor, face bright red.

/Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. What if dad finds out? Oh no./

Levi grabbed her chin, moving her head to make her look at him. "A girl as pretty as you shouldn't be looking at the dirty ass floor."

Ms. Henn snapped, "Ackerman! Language."

Levi pulled away from Akemi, saying, "Yeah yeah."

He picked up his bag and walked out. Ms. Henn called after him, "Make sure to do that worksheet!"

Ms. Henn looked at Akemi. "Don't be too scared by him. He's had a rough life."

/Rough life. Yeah. I would know./

Akemi blushed profusely, hands shaking as she packed up her bag. There was something about him that was... Attractive, almost. But, the again, he was the first boy to ever pay attention to her. Plus, he had called her /pretty/!
