..Because You're Worth It [Draco/Newt]

Prologue

Shy Hufflepuff Newt Scamander, born the 24th February in 1897, never had many friends. Human friends, that is. He had trouble speaking to people, worried about how they'd judge him.. He'd rather sit in the hidden alcove of the astronomy tower alone with his Niffler, away from people who glared at him for protecting magical creatures.

Bring Draco Malfoy, born on the 5th of June in 1897, into the picture; loud, cunning, ambitious and, not to mention, quite good looking. He was in Slytherin house with someone Newt was growing to know - Leta Lestrange. From first year, Newt had noticed Draco. Noticed he seemed to only have three or four friends, Leta one of them, and always got his way. Newt also noticed that Draco seemed to have a rough family life, being the son of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy who had gone to Hogwarts with Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald — who unbeknownst to the world had been in a relationship. Only Draco knew his father had once threatened to tell the headmaster at the time. Relationships like that of Dumbledore's with Grindelwald was unacceptable.

But of course, Newt knew none of this. All he knew, all he learned, was that Draco had it rough. It intrigued Newt, although he was too shy to approach the Slytherin. Until one day, the Slytherin approached him.

What would become of this — this friendship that would blossom between the two? What would Draco's father say? What would Newt's older brother view it as? Nothing was for certain.
