"Mom!!! I'm going outside to the tech doctor to become a cyborg just like you and dad. Today is finally the day for it. I'll be able to tell all of my friends about my upgrades," I said. "Volt, make sure you take your phone so that you get my calls, and also don't get too excited yet. There is a lot about the world that you don't know about." replied my mom. "What do you mean by that? --Well okay bye mom" I quickly went left through the front dark brown polished door and walked down our smooth granite steps.
A few minutes after I left my house I saw two of my friends Katy and Alec. "What's up guys?" I asked them. "Nothing much," Alec said, "What about you?" "I'm just heading over to the tech doctor to become a cyborg just like my parents. I'm so excited!!!" I said. "That's really cool Volt! Maybe after I get enough money I'll also become a cyborg like you," said Katy. "Well I'm going to go continue my mission courageously. Bye guys it was fun talking to you." "Peace" Alec replied.
I continued walking down the many blocks, and I reached the front door of the building where the tech doctor is. I was so excited I walked the two miles without getting tired, and it felt like no time passed at all. The doors to the building were covered by a bright blue paint which reminded me of a video game I would play when I was 6 called megaman. I also caught a strong odor that reminded me of the back of my dad's car because of the air fresheners that he put there. I opened the door and I instantly felt a wave of warm air hit my body which gave me a signal that the inside had very good heating. The warm air in the front of my body when my whole body was cold was the best feeling, and I wanted to stay in that position for the rest of the day, but I knew I had to carry out this fun mission and become a legendary cyborg like my parents. I went into the building where I saw a cyborg. "Hey Volt! My name's Edward the tech doctor. I've been expecting you. Your dad Darius told me that you would be coming here to be a cyborg." said Edward. "Hey there!" I said back, "I'm really excited for this." I walked to the copper plated chair and I sat on its smooth surface. Edward put all of the gear on me and got everything ready. "Did your dad tell you about the consequences of being a cyborg?" asked Edward. "No he----" I couldn't finish my sentence and Edward started the procedure on me. "Wh--at do yo--u me--an by cons--equenc-es" I somehow said with all of the vibrations and electric charges going through the chair. I was then stabbed by something on my right shoulder and that was the last thing I remembered. My eyes just closed.
I woke up and felt twice as strong. I felt like a strong body lifter. I remembered that it was because I did the cyborg operation. I was still sitting in the chair, I stood up, and accidently jumped up 3 meters, and I turned around me and saw Edward the tech doctor. I was furious, about why he just started the procedure on me before anyone could tell me what the consequences of being a cyborg was. "Why would you just start the procedure?!" I yelled. "I had to because you came this far, and I didn't want to you to turn back after hearing the consequences." Edward replied. "If I may ask, what are these consequences that you are speaking of?" "Now is not a very good time for being a cyborg. Most humans have a prejudice against cyborgs. We cyborgs are being segregated by normal people. It is a very dark time for us." "I can't believe what you are saying. I've always went out in public with my parents, and nothing of the sort ever happened." "That is only because of the legendary cyborg your dad is. Everyone knows him and of the amazing video games he created." "I still don't believe you, but if I do have to face this I will face it with all of my determination to succeed in life." I trudged out of the building to make it seem more serious on purpose, and I went on my way back to home.
"Ouch!!" I shouted when I felt a hard rock hit me right on my shoulder which didn't have metal on it. "OOF!" yelled a group of kids from across the street. All of the kids walked towards me, and one of the kids pointed at me and flicked my forhead hard with his index finger and said "sorry, I hit you with that by accident." He had a mischievous grin on his face, and I knew that they came to cause trouble. They all started to push me against the wall and punch me. I accepted it and let them hit me because I didn't want cyborgs to have a worse reputation. I realized that the segregation between cyborgs and humans was very true, and that Edward wasn't lying. It felt as though time was going ultra slow, and I was just feeling so much pain from each of the punches that I didn't feel any of it anymore. It felt like the longest minute of my life. I somehow took a stand and me being a cyborg there was no blood or bruises on me anywhere. I was just going to walk away until I heard a familiar voice. "Go away!!" shouted Katy and Alec as they ran towards the group of people. "He never did anything to you, and cyborgs never did anything to humans!!" Katy said to them. They all ran away and they didn't even look back behind them because of how scared they were. "Thank you guys for helping me!" I said. "No problem man. Anything for you, my friend," said Alec. I was so happy they came and helped me out, and I wonder what I would've done if they never came. I could've easily beaten them all up with my cyborg strength, but that was not a good idea because of the reputation I would set for fellow cyborgs, and I could've mentioned my dad so they would stop, but that would be a coward move using my father's name to remove myself from a conflict my fellow cyborgs have to go through. I was wondering if it was just an occasion that sometimes happened to cyborgs, but then I realized that it literally happened in the first few minutes of me being a cyborg.
I ended up continuing going down to my house, and a lot of humans looking at me tried to intimidate me, but none of them did anything really bad. I got home and I was furious of why my parents never told me what I was getting myself into when becoming a cyborg. They had nothing to defend themselves with when I told them that. I was kind of glad that no one had told me of the prejudice since it would've stopped me from being a cool cyborg which was always my dream. The next day, I was just walking outside to the deli near my house to buy some cyber pockets which is a special hot food for cyborgs if you didn't know what it was, and the group of kids yesterday came up to me. Not this again. I didn't want it to feel like yesterday, and I was incorrect on what would happen, they learned their lesson and apologized to me about what they did. They realized that their actions against cyborgs was uncalled for. Somehow what happened to me yesterday was recorded by a cyborg across the street, and it got all the way to the news. 5 years past, and I'm now happier than ever. There are many more cyborgs than before and cyborgs live in harmony with humans now, but I fear that cyborgs are going to find humans as inferior.
