Chapter 1

The night was almost silent as the male lay in his bed, attempting to ponder to himself things to do. Almost. His thoughts were never allowed any type of peace and quiet in the little studio apartment he shared with his roommate, Changkyun. The noise only caused him to groan in annoyance, but he sat up from his position on the bed, easing his way out to the living room. His vision and words were groggy from being in the dark, "What the hell are you listening to?"

The second his vision cleared, he blinked, and looked straight at his roommate who had perked up at his own presence. "Good evening, sunshine. It's a piece my teacher played for us, 'Pavane for a Dead Princess.' It's beautiful, isn't it?"

Hyungwon was too grouchy to care, so all he did was shake his head, his own annoyance ruling out appreciation. "It'll be beautiful when I'm awake."

"Sheesh. Well, are you still going to dinner with Minhyuk to discuss the collaboration?" Changkyun asked, clearly uninterested.

Hyungwon could only roll his eyes, strode to the table near Changkyun, grabbed the car keys and quickly made his way towards the door. "Fine, I'm getting out of your hair. Geez."

——•——

Hyungwon's grip was tight on the car keys, causing his hand to begin to burn from the pain, but he chose to only ignore it. His long legs helped him make it to his destination, and once he arrived, he noticed Minhyuk sitting at their reserved table with another man.

The second his eyes landed on the man next to Minhyuk, he reverted them to his friend. Staring at the other for too long made Hyungwon feel like a sinner in church. This man looked like the devil himself.

Hyungwon sat down, only looking at Minhyuk the full time, but he did dare to ask about the other male. "Who is this?"

Minhyuk turned his gaze to his friend, blinking at the question Hyungwon had asked. "Just a friend. Why?"

"No reason."

The males continued on conversing about the collaboration, the details about it to a precise art that you would have to be an idiot to mess it up.

Once they had finished, Hyungwon was in a much better mood, a smile on his face as he stood up. Before he headed for the exit, he caught a glimpse of Minhyuk's friend. He just happened to be staring straight at Hyungwon, smirk plastered on his face as he clearly ran his tongue across his lip, all for the other male to see.

Hyungwon shivered at the sight, pushing the door of the restaurant he was in open and quickly leaving. His thoughts returned to a mixture of a mess and annoyance. His thoughts were so jumbled even as he crossed the road, he didn't notice the car rushing in his direction. He could feel his body collapse to the ground, and every single thing going black.

—-•—-

"NEXT!" Hyungwon was jolted back to his new reality as he heard the sound of a gavel. He shyly moved his feet forward, scared of his fate as he stood in front of the judges.

The judge held a stack of papers, reading them aloud to the other judges present in the room. "Chae Hyungwon. Aged 25— you're pretty young to be here, son. I hope he didn't happen to see you while you were on earth. Anyways, died due to being hit by a car. Bad deed record? Hm, I'm not seeing much on here. This just says you have an attitude problem," the judge turned to look at the others, "In favor of him going to heaven, say pass!"

Hyungwon looked up just this once, every single judge on the stand screamed 'pass!' He could feel his heart relaxing at last as someone rushed in to give him a golden ticket.

The judge on the stand answered the question that had popped in his mind. "Next to you is Kihyun. He will show you to the train to heaven. When you arrive at the train, give them your ticket."

Hyungwon nodded, turning his head to face Kihyun, soon being lead to the destined train.

—-•—-

Hyungwon couldn't help noticing how on edge Kihyun seemed, and he just wanted to ask if something was wrong, but he had this strange feeling that if he even dared to ask, Kihyun would snap at him. Mainly because of how on edge he was, sweat dripping down his neck, his full body tense.

When arriving to the train, Hyungwon looked it over. It wasn't what he had expected, the full color of the train a fire-y red. He gulped a lump in his throat, "Thank you, Kihyun."

"Anytime." The male replied, but quickly dashed as Hyungwon gave his ticket to the person by the train. Weird.

The male snatched the ticket, shoving Hyungwon onto the train, almost causing the tall male to fall over. The train ride felt like it lasted forever, but it probably was only around thirty minutes.

Upon arriving to the destination, Hyungwon was shoved out of the train and into a room full of other people who he assumed were new residents in heaven. He wanted to desperately ask them a question, but their focus was somewhere else. And it was like if they looked anywhere else, their fate would be much worse.

Hyungwon looked forward, placing his eyes on the male who everyone was staring at. In fact, this male seemed to look like the male Hyungwon remembered sitting next to Minhyuk minutes before his death. This male even had the same nasty smirk on his face.

"Welcome! I assume you all know why you're all here, so I'll just give you all of your appropriate assignments." He announced, causing Hyungwon to gulp in slight fear.

Am I supposed to feel fear in heaven? He couldn't help thinking. He watched as everyone disappeared as they received their assignments, and he ended up the last one to stand in front of the man.

He watched the male lick his lips, moving closer to Hyungwon to lift his chin, forcing the male to look into the other's eyes. He gulped down a lump in his throat as the male spoke. "I have a very special assignment for you, dear. I'll even personally show you it myself. How lucky of you."

Hyungwon didn't understand what that meant as he was dragged out of the room by a strong grip towards a pair of tall chamber doors.
