My windshield wipers worked gently as few snowflakes hit, them wiping away into a wet streak.

School was only a few miles away, a perk I guess you can say for living in a small town. I lived in a woodland town, and it was small, and our town was called Small Oaks. Tall trees where everywhere, and they were without their leaves, so their only leaves were icicles that hung down and shown like diamonds as the rising sun shined on them.

I had lived in Small Oaks for ten years, before then I really don’t remember much. I knew we had lived with my dad’s parents, where they took care of me as my dad went to get an Associates Degree in Business. They lived in a large city… but I really didn’t remember much of it.

Anyway, the roads were clear, the snow was plowed to the sides. As the sun was rising, I was listening the news on the radio, mostly for weather and events that happens around town.

“Today’s weather report is 24 degrees Fahrenheit, the highest today is the freezing point of 32 degrees.” the weatherman said on the radio.

“I can live with that,” I muttered to myself.

The report then drastically changed as another news report took the weather’s spot.

“In other news, there was yet another murder on the east side of Large Oaks, a young woman of the age of sixteen was found brutally beaten and disposed of in a shallow grave.”

I felt my face turn into a frown. That was the third time this month… they were all girls too that were killed. It seemed very strange that they are all of the same age.

“Parents of the young woman said that she was with her boyfriend last night, just as the other girls had been with their boyfriends, and he was brought in for questioning. Just as the last two subjects of the last murders, the boyfriend had nothing to do with the murder due to many witnesses and an alibi. Young woman should take precaution when out at night, no matter what city they are in.”

I turned off the radio, my hand slightly shaking.

Large Oaks is the sister town of Small Oaks. The city is a lot larger, holding at least seven times the population we have here in Small Oaks. I only go there for some important shopping trips with friends, since Large Oaks has a mall.

Something bright greeted me, a large sign that read “Small Oaks High School”, the only high school here in town. I drove into the small driveway, following a few other cars in. A few school buses were parked in a circle, underclassmen that didn’t drive groggily got off.

I parked my car in a far parking space, it didn’t matter where I parked, as long as it was no where near the driveway. After I took my key out of the ignition, I sighed tiredly. With a groan I opened my car door and locked the car, and with my bags in tow I began to walk to the large school.

Kids were everywhere, some sitting on benches, or standing on tall concrete walls. Small Oaks High School was large being that it was the only high school in the city. I believe the population of the school was about 5000 students or so… not really sure though. Many of them were trying to copy each other’s homework, or they were chasing each other like it was Kindergarten, and some ere even trying to have morning flirt sessions before class.

I do not take part of any of this. It is completely childish. I always do my homework, and I am not one of those dimwitted, bubblegum blowing, bitches that would just sit there and just flirt constantly when I should be planning my future.

As I walked toward the front doors of the school, a group of cheerleaders glared at me from the corner of their eyes. They were all blonde and blue-eyed, each wearing a bow in their hair that was blue, matching the blue uniforms and extremely short skirts. It’s January… why in the hell are they wearing shorts? I will never know… and I don’t care to.
