Metis
I gripped the sink, my knuckles turning white as I let out another strangled moan. The seizing in my lower belly has been getting more and more aggressive as the minutes dragged on. As the pain slowly began to dull I was finally able to pull a hand free to rub soothing circles to my belly. I dipped my hands into the cool water, that I had filled the sink with, bringing it up or me to drink.
Since Zeus left no one has come to bring me anything to eat or drink. I ran my damp hands over my face as I gathered myself in the mirror. I looked awful, my hair was sticking up in odd angles and dark rings circled my eyes.
I looked like I hadn't slept in days. I felt like I hadn't slept in days. Now with the pain finally gone, I made my way back into the bedroom. Sighing I sat on the edge of the bed attempting to get comfortable before the next wave hit my body. This time when my lower half began to tighten I felt a sudden release and liquid gushed out of me, cascading down my legs.
Pooling on the bed and the floor. I didn't have a moment to think anything before the pain flooded through me. A scream ripped from my chest as the pain was heightened beyond my comprehension. The pain was so fierce, so all-consuming I didn't notice someone forcing the balcony doors open.
"Metis!" A male voice shouted. For a brief moment, relief filled my senses. Zeus had come back for me! But as I turned to look, I was shocked to see a tall lanky brown haired god. I tried to get up but the combination of the continuing tightness in my lower half and the liquid on the floor kept me from making any sudden movements. "Wait Metis. Don't be afraid! I've come as a friend. I've come to help."
The man with winged shoes quickly came to my side helping me move away from the bed, toward the balcony doors. "W...what are you doing here!" My voice was a bit pained but the tightness was starting to dissipate again and I knew soon id be able to breathe normally.
"Zeus will kill you!" I nearly shouted at the god. The god gave me a crooked smile. "He could try. Don't worry Iris sent me. We are both messenger gods. My name is Hermes." The boyish god stuck his hand out for me. I eyed his hand for a long moment before taking it in mine, the way Zeus had shown me.
"Metisssss" I ended my name in a hiss as the tightening began again. The pain was gradually getting higher and a strangled groan pulled from my lips. "We got to go Metis. She'll be here any moment." Hermes tried to drag me along but I wouldn't budge.
I wasn't going to leave the safety of my room. Not now while I was so vulnerable. I shook my head through the pain praying he would understand. "Metis." Hermes grabbed each side of my face pulling my eyes to his. "Metis we have to go. Zeus told Hera where you are. She's coming to kill you." His voice was strong and even though I knew deep down he was telling the truth my heart wouldn't listen.
I continued to shake my head as the pain dulled. "No no no! your lying Zeus will barge in here any moment and if you don't leave he will rip your throat out." I growled as I tried to take a staggering step back. A loud crash could be heard throughout the house.
It hadn't come from my door but the sound was a door being slammed open. A battle cry drifted through the house as things began breaking. "That's her Metis we have to go NOW!" Hermes yanked me into his arms.
