Who's Left?

I woke up to Julie shaking me and sobbing. She was screaming at me to wake up. I slowly opened my eyes and realized we were both hanging upside down. "What happened?" I said, remembering nothing."Oh thank God you're alive!" she said and breathed out a sight of relief.

I looked over at her and saw her right arm covered and blood. I felt down to my lap and carefully undid my seat belt and slid down. When my feet hit the floor I realized my ankle was in a lot of pain. I fought the pain long enough to undo Julie's seat belt and help her down. As we examined the scene around us, I gasped and Julie started sobbing again. Everybody around us was dead. Dead.

How could our classmates, since kindergarten, just suddenly be gone? Just like that. We realized that there was a large hole in the side of the plane that we could climb out of. So we did.

We looked around us and all we saw was jungle. All around us. We heard footsteps coming towards us from behind the wing, and out stepped Zach.

Zach sat behind me in French and in front of me in biology. He was nice and always helped me with homework. "Cass? Julie? You're alive! Hey guys! There's more!" he shouted behind us. "More?" came another shout from that direction.

Me and Julie looked at each other, then at the people coming around the wing. It was Holland, Seth, Michael, and Elliot. They stood there for a couple of seconds before Holland started to laugh.

"I'm so happy you guys are alive! So happy that there are more! I was terrified that we were the only people left. If you guys are alive, that means others could still be alive too!" Then she started heading towards the plane. "Holland, there aren't any others." Elliot said sympathetically.

Then we heard it. A weak "Help!" Coming from under a pile of rubble. Seth, Zach, Michael, and Elliot were the first to the rubble and started to lift. After the first few large peices of shrapnel were removed, we saw Melissa. She was bloody and bruised, but she was still Melissa.

Melissa was the type of girl who was always going to be prom queen and the center of all the attention. She had stick-straight bleach blonde hair with huge baby blue eyes and full pink lips with perfect complexion. She was exactly the right size and had perfect teeth, hair, and everything else. Not to mention she she millions of clothes and twice as many shoes.

And now she is the purple and red lump on a pile of metal. It was unreal.
