Orion

I was finishing gettting ready for school when Soraya yelled at me. "ORION! GET UP!" My little sister screeched.

"I am up, Soraya!" I yell back. I check my reflection in the mirror. I'm wearing black skinny jeans, a white sweater, brown combat boots, and a floral infinity scarf. I straightened my long black hair and applied some black eyeliner and mascara.

I head downstairs to find my twelve year old sister eating her breakfast. "You look ugly." She says with a mouth full of cereal.

"At least I know how to dress myself." I retort. The child looked like a unicorn threw up on her. Pink and glitter everywhere. Ugh.

"Orion! Soraya! It's time to leave!" My mom calls. I grab my messenger bag and walk outside to the car.

I didn't really say much on the drive to school. I mean, what am I supposed to say? It's high school, overflowing with drama.

We dropped Soraya off at her middle school. Eventually, we made it to my school. "Have a good day, Orion." My mom says as I close the door. I just nod and walk away.

I head off to my locker to grab my books for first period, which is English.

The bell rings and I walk to class. I sit in my usual seat as more students pile in. "Alright class, we're switching the seating plan. When you hear your name, please move to your assigned seat." She begins listing off names and finally reaches mine. "Orion Dametto, you'll be next to Jack Gilinsky."

I nod and move to my new seat. Jack sits down beside me. "Hi." He says, grinning.

  "Hey." I say.

"Are you new to the school?"

I shake my head. "Nope. I've been here since last year."

"Oh. I'm sorry. I've never seen you around before." Jack says.

"It's okay. I get that a lot. I prefer sticking to the sidelines then the spotlight, I guess." I chuckle nervously.

  "Like a wallflower."

  I nod. "Yeah, exactly."

"Well, I think you're a gorgeous wallflower." He shoots me a crooked smile before turning to the front and beginning to pay attention to the lesson.

I feel my cheeks beginning to burn. I'm blushing. Awesome. "Thanks." I whisper.

I barely make it through the rest of class. Scratch that, the rest of the day. Who could when someone extremely hot called you gorgeous?

At lunch, I sat with these girls, Dawn, Nicole, and Adrianna. Jack and a few more boys I didn't know sat with us too. Jack and I traded numbers so we could talk more. Happy was an understatement for my feeling.

All day long, I kept replaying mine and Jack's conversation from the morning over and over again.

When I got home, I could barely contain my emotions. "Good day?" My mom asks.

I grin like an idiot. "You have no idea."
