Chapter One
It was the last day of the school holidays and I intended to spend it to the fullest, savoring each moment. I rolled over in bed my sweaty body wrapped up in the sheets. I laid there my ears straining to hear any noise of life, but all I heard was my heavy breathing. So with much effort I rubbed my sleepy eyes and rolled over and reached out to my bed side table. Grasping my phone I flipped it open and froze. It was already midday. You have to be joking; I had already wasted most of my day. I groaned kicking off my sheets and stood up, walking into the unfamiliar bathroom to have a shower. It had only been two weeks since my family and I had moved to North Shore, a small town located in the middle of nowhere. I was due to start the local Community High School, Stella College. Of Course I was dreading it, making new friends was always my down fall. The scorching water burned my skin, it felt good. It distracted me from my constant thoughts. I wonder if it's possible not to think. But then again I'm thinking about wondering if it's possible not to think. I sighed heavily and grabbed the shampoo lathering into my thick waves.
Now dressed my long brown hair tied back into a ponytail, I walked down the long hallway and into the lounge room. I inhaled the scent of fresh pain and new house. They have always had a certain smell and fell about them that make my mind yell, "Foreign!" I've never liked change. When Mum got me a new pair of pajamas when I was five because my old ones didn't fit, I sat and stared at them trying to decide whether I liked them or not. When I had, I silently walked into the kitchen grabbed a pair of scissors and started cutting away. I can't remember what my Mum had said; only that she was very angry. When I had met my new baby sister, I had thrown all my toys at her, yelled, and screamed about how much I hated her. My Mum had cried for weeks. The lounge was empty but I did notice a small note on the white board.
Elora,
We have gone out shopping for school supplies for tomorrow.

Love Dad xxoo
I grabbed the remote and sat down. What an epic way to spend your day Ellie, watching Tellie!!
That night as I laid down, my head resting on my pillow, I silently cried. I cried for my Nan, I cried for myself and I cried just because I was feeling lonely. And as my tears dried up my red eyes slowly closing I was at peace for the first time since I had moved but I knew that in the morning this peace would be gone. I was awoken from my slumber by a very annoying voice. "Ellie, get up. School today," Gemma yelled slamming my door shut as she walked off. I could just see the smirk on her little face, little bitch! My sister and I have a very interesting relationship. She was to be starting grade six at some primary school. It was chilly today so before I walked down to the kitchen I wrapped my body in my pink robe. Stomping down the hallway my bed hair worse than usual from my sleepless night, I shivered. My feet were terribly cold on the tiles which were throughout the whole four bedroom house except in the bedrooms, where they had laid the most fluffy crème carpet ever. "Morning Ellie," Mum chirped from the dining table a bowl of cereal in front of her. I replied in form of a grunt and popped in a piece of toast in the toaster before sitting next to her laying my heavy head onto the table. "Bad sleep?" I slowly raised my head a questioning look in my eye. She knew I hadn't slept well. "I know this is all new but, you'll make great friends," she said quietly all that morning goodness crap gone. Usually I would at least try to act happy, put on my facade but right now I was too tired to even care if I had hurt her fragile feelings. "It's okay Mum, You know I love you." Lie.
School was made up of two very big red bricked buildings with one of them holding a sign out the front that read, "FRONT OFFICE." I made my way up to the sign then stopped and stared at it when I remember that I was told to go to Student Reception to get my schedule. Had I made a mistake? Now I was panicking, my heart pace increased and I walked a bit closer hoping to see a sign or something that told me where to go. The school grounds were neat and tidy in-between the two buildings was a big green oval, sporting, footy goals and several wooden table and chairs. A huge black fence surrounded the whole thing and it sort of seemed more like a prison to me. "You new?" I froze at the male voice and slowly turned around. He was tall; I was now facing a chest. I backed up and raised my head to peer at the face of a boy who looked to be about seventeen, my age. He had the best cheekbones and smooth looking skin which led to the most amazing full pink lips. My eyes lingered before they trailed to his eyes where they were lost in a swirl of electric blue. He was lean and you could tell definitely the sporty type. He had short windblown style died black hair. He was cute. I looked away my cheeks hot and I knew I was blushing. "Umm, yeah I am," I mumbled looking down at my feet restraining myself from looking at his face again. I had just made a total fool out of myself. "I'll show you to Student Reception. The name's Mace." He started walking and I followed silently relived that I had met him. I probably would have walked around for hours trying to find that place. An awkward silence fell over us and I looked around only now noticing the other students. They stood or sat in groups chatting and laughing away, I wonder if any of those groups will make room for another? "So?" Mace asked amusement lacing his word. I stared at him confused then mentally cursed myself for being so stupid. "Elora but call me Ellie," I said. He nodded thoughtfully before stopping suddenly in front of a purple painted door with a small sign reading Student Reception. We had only walked around the corner of the building, I felt so dumb. "Thank you." "No worries Ellie, guess I'll see you around," he said before walking off stuffing his hands into the pocket of his jeans. I turned around and placed my hand on the door my thoughts ticking over Mace but a blood curdling scream echoed through the school interrupting my thoughts. It was abruptly cut off before turning into a rather sickening chocking gargle. Then Silence.
