Afternoon Eye Rolls
"Are you sure you're bisexual honey?" Sarah rolls her eyes so fast they could have won a nascar race.
"As sure as I was when I came out. Five years ago." She sighed, looking up at her dad. This isn't what she needed after the worlds longest morning of shoots and meetings.
"I know... Just making sure..." He says, looking down at his beer to avoid eye contact.
"So how's work sweetie?" Sarah plants a smile on her face as her dad looks back up.
"It's good. Busy I guess, but good." Sarah's dad frowns slightly.
"Are you making time for friends Sarah?" He asks. Her dad had always gone through measures to make sure that Sarah was a sociable, functioning kid, and it hadn't really changed as she's grew up.
"I work with most of my friends-" She starts, before being interrupted.
"I mean outside the workplace, Sarah. You need to go out, find yourself a boy- partner. Have fun!" You need to find yourself a partner were the words constantly in Sarah's mind. She pretended to be happy, but seeing her friends in relationships just made he jealous. Grace and Hannah had been together for years, and Sarah had never been with someone for over six months for gods sake.
Sarah downed her beer and wished her dad a hasty goodbye, promising to stay in touch and work hard and make friends and... Just to be a good, functioning adult. Sarah checked her watch. Two o'clock. She just had to get through four more hours of crap until she could go and have a laugh, and hopefully drinks, at Hannah's.
Taylor Swift played at full blast as she drove to her next shoot. She always pretended to hate Taylor to avoid being teased by Grace. Which was ironic, seeing the other women liked pop music too. Sarah was praying that Mamrie would be there tonight so she wouldn't have to hide her jealousy of Hannah and Grace's relationship... You need to find yourself a partner replayed in Sarah's mind as she parked next to the shoot location.
Four hours, she thinks, four hours until you can get out and drink away your sorrows.
