It's insane how fast news flies, but, at the same time, how slow the weekend can pass by. I watch as my Instagram and Snapchat blows up with pictures of the dance, and questions about me and Alex. I pass the time by flipping through all the pictures with a grin on my face.

Why does this make me so happy? It's weird.

The texts start at about noon on Saturday.

-Felicity- Hey girlie.

-Me- Heya. Wats up?

-Felicity- Nm. Just lookin at some steamy pics.....

-Me- I have no idea what ur referring 2

-Felicity- Of course u do! U and Alex were all over each other for several songs.

-Me- Hardly lol

-Felicity- I think he likes uuuuuuuu

-Me- Nah. Besides.... He just broke up with Ella. He's going thru a lot.

-Felicity- Ash?

-Me- Yesss?

-Felicity- Ur not?

At that point in the conversation, I set my phone down and walk downstairs. There she is, sitting on the couch. My mother stares lazily at the television. Every few minutes she switch channels, but other than that, she doesn't move. It's not hard to see that she is exhausted.

7 months ago, my mother was diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme, or more commonly known as, glioblastoma. She had been acting odd for a while, but after witnessing me fall down the stairs with no emotion or even recognition, it was the last straw. Me and my dad took her to the hospital and submitted her to a series of tests.

You always hear about people who found out their family members have cancer, and you always think it won't happen to you. But it did. I understood all the tears and shed many of my own. It was hard to come to terms with the fact that I would be losing my mother. It was only a matter of time. All the treatments she could receive would only stall the inevitable. They would never be cures.

But this, this isn't my mother. My mother laughed and smiled, took me out of school to watch movies on the couch, made me breakfast, and did my hair. This woman, she's cold and emotionless.
