Jenny walked up to the large concrete building. The icy air stung her lungs and pricked at her cheeks. She hated the winter, hated the cold. She preferred summer, she loved the boiling hot air and green scenery; but summer was a long ways away. The camera at the front scanned her and Chris' familiar voice sprung out from the speaker. "Morning, Jenny." She nodded in response and waited for the large front door to unlock. A small click emitted from the door and Jenny walked into the office. She sighed as she was brushed with the warm air. Jenny rubbed her hands together to warm them and headed off to James' office. She nodded to the receptionist and continued walking down the long corridor. She felt a sense of dread creep up on her as she neared his office. She did this every day but she hated it each time. It's not like she could turn back, take a day off, or even skip this daily meeting. He knew where she was at all times; there was no point in running. She opened the door to his office. James was sitting in his velvet red swivel chair with his arms cupped together on his desk. The light highlighted his green eyes, the scar over his left eye dulling the color respectively. He was a well kept man, clean shaven, brushed brown hair. If he wasn't an absolute asshole she might actually tolerate him. Jenny sat down in the small metal chair in front of his desk. "Good morning, love." She wanted to gag. James' deep slight Russian accented voice seemed to sink into the room. "I have a more difficult assignment for you today, nothing you can't handle though." Jenny nodded. James slid out a small drawer out from his desk and pulled out a dusty file. "You remember our old business partner, Miles Mcmillian." James brushed off the file, looking at it with longing. "Sadly, our dear friend has turned against us." 'Dear friend' Jenny thought. He was a useless bum too hooked on drugs to comprehend half the things he was told. "I need you to take him out. You know where his office is. I want it destroyed. All his workers offed. I'd prefer you bring Mcmillian back alive but dead is fine." James slipped Jenny the folder. It had Mcmillians picture, office location, and all his workers. Jenny gripped the folder and after a moment of silence she spoke. "What'd he do?" Jenny reluctantly asked. James chuckled. "Curiosity killed the cat~" he purred, it was almost a warning. "And satisfaction brought it back." Jenny smiled, letting an ounce of vulnerability out. James shot a glance at Jenny sending a chill up her spine. He still scared her. Good. James took a deep inhale. "He's threatened to make our location public if we don't give him a lifetime supply of weed and crack. You know, he wasn't the brightest lad." James smirked, taking advantage of the vulnerability Jenny let slip. "His office is quite close to the kingdom. Why don't you pay your sister a visit?"
There it is. Jenny thought. Her fists tightened and she gritted her teeth. "I'll have the job done." Jenny said as she stood up.
James watched as Jenny left the room. Not the reaction he wanted, but he'd get to her eventually. She had to break eventually.
As Jenny left the office Jamie was outside waiting for her. Jamie was a short and thin 20 year old girl. She had dirty blond hair that laid messily over her pale freckled skin. She had dark brown eyes and a boyish frame. With her suit on you'd mistake her for a guy. She smiled at Jenny. "Have a nice meeting?" She teased. She was James' niece, daughter of his brother, Jeremiah. Jenny was practically raised by James, so she and Jamie considered each other family. Jenny scoffed. "Yeah, he said I can take the whole day off."
"Huh, that's weird cause I'm supposed to accompany you on a big mission. Must be a mistake then."
"I wish, I don't feel like doing this today. I'm still sore from yesterday's mission." Jenny said and she stretched her arm out and heard it crack. "How does he expect us to drag that 300 pound bozo out of his office ALIVE? It'd be easier to transport an elephant." They both laughed. "He'd probably be too drugged up to care where we took him." They walked down the long hallway side by side. "I'm sorry you gotta deal with him." Jamie said looking down at the ground. She was referring to James, Jenny assumed. "It's not like you have it any better." Jenny said glancing over at Jamie. Jeremiah wasn't any better than James. He was as homophobic as homophobia gets. He and those little experiments made the office more depressed than it already was. Jamie had to deal with his rantings and his sadistic tendencies all the time. It was silent as they walked outside. Jenny looked up at the pale sky sprinkled with clouds. This was gonna be a long day.
