The first few hours in school was all a big huge blur. The map Ms Patrice gave me didn't help much. I got lost a couple times.

Math class is about to start and so I make my way in class and sit down in the center of the room. I could feel the stares from people around me. I guess all I can do is pretend I don't notice. Think about Austin, yeah that would help. Just as I was starting to daydream about him, the math teacher walks in class holding a coffee cup and his laptop. He is wearing a olive green cardigan with brown loafers. Very typical math teacher fashion I'm guessing.

"Good morning, class. For those who do not know me, I am Mr Tim Carson. I would like to be addressed as 'Mr Carson' and I do not wish to be called by my first name. Are we clear?"

"Crystal." A girl besides me says to herself while the rest of the class moan a dreadful 'yesss'.

I turn to my left and I see a girl with dark hair and dark skin. She seems to notice me looking so she turns to look at me and introduces herself.

"Hi there, my name is North. You look pretty familiar. I'm sure I've seen you somewhere." She says.

"Hey! And yeah I'm Harper Beckham, kinda David and Victoria's child. You looked familiar to me too. North West I assume?" I reply.

"Yeah I am. Nice to meet you by the way." She says pleasantly and smiles at me.

"Nice meeting you too." I say and return the smile.

"Oh and since you're new, you can sit with me at lunch. I can show you around!" North suggests.

"I'd love to! Thanks!" I reply.

North flashes a wide smile and turns her head back to face Mr Carson. I should probably pay attention. Don't wanna miss the solution for solving simultaneous equations! How fun. I say to myself sarcastically.

The lunch bell goes off and me and North walk out the door together and head downstairs.

"Hey hold on, I just need to put my books first." North mentions. And so I follow her to the locker hall.

I notice Austin at his locker a few feet away, he's grabbing his football shoes from his locker a few doors down North's locker.

"Mmmm. Austin Bridges. Every girl's first crush." North says, sensing my stares at Austin.

"I don't know, he's kinda cute to be honest." I admitted.

"Well lemme share something with you, okay? Austin certainly knows how to get girls but he can never keep em'. His longest relationship was a week! He just flirts with other girls too much, you know?" North explains.

"So are you saying he's a man slut?"

"No not really... Maybe. But he's really nicer. He's a nice man slut..." North replies.

"Look, just becareful. Don't wanna rush into things fast. It's your first day, you barely know me, and we're talkin' about nice man sluts!" Norths laughs.

"Haha well you seem really nice and I feel like I can trust you, even-though I only spent 2 hours with you."

"Aw well you are definitely right, girl. You can trust me, and I have a feeling we're gonna be besties. I promise I'll always have your back!" North says.

I flash a wide smile and we walk to lunch. Walking down to the cafeteria, North 'lectures' me about the people in school, and I'm extremely grateful for it.

"Okay this is important. You do not wanna mess with the wrong crowd. There's this pyramid that everyone in school knows about. The base of the pyramid is all the normal people that can just afford going to school here, then there's the scholars, who can't afford school here but they're smarter than everyone else and they have scholarships, also known as the Einsteins, moving on to the rich and popular kids, then there's the rich and famous' kids on top. Being a star's child just makes you popular here. It sucks being labeled but you just have to go with it. Oh and I'm warning you about the trio."

Honestly I don't get this small hierarchy. I mean I understand being popular boosts your self-esteem and you have so many friends you wouldn't have to worry about not having a partner in a project, but somehow the popular kids have a tendency to become more egotistical. I feel like as long as I can concentrate on school, the pyramid wouldn't affect me.

Me and North line up to get our meals. I notice Austin and his 15 friends sitting down a few feet away. Yes I counted.

"Hey North, just wondering. Is Austin you know... on top of the pyramid?" I ask North while talking a plastic tray for my food.

"I guess you could say that. He's kinda in the middle. His dad owns a recording company for artists in America." She says.

"So are you having the pesto pasta with the choice of penne or spaghetti? Or maybe the crab lasagna with a quinoa salad?" North asks.

"Probably the lasagna." I reply.

All of a sudden everyone's heads turn in a direction and people immediately make way for them. I stick my head out of the line to see what's going on. There they were. The 'trio' North talked about.

The leader of the group walks in the middle and her three best friends by her side. It's like a scene from Mean Girls, just with one more best friend.

The leader steps close to me and she gives a very fake smile.

"Madison Maddox. Pleasure to meet you, Harper." She says.

"Hi Madison. Nice meeting you." I reply nicely.

"You can call me Maddie. Oh and I like your flats! Would you like to sit with us for lunch?" Maddie questions.

"Actually, I have lunch with North. Maybe some other time!" I reply.

"Ew. Oh North, didn't even notice you. I'm so blind sometimes." Maddie says sarcastically.

"Maybe you should consider going to an eye doctor to get your eyes checked. And maybe to a doctor that your mother hasn't hit on before." North fires back.

The lunch crowd causes a huge commotion and some jocks make 'ooooh' noises.

"Come on, girls. We don't waste our time on North West. As for you, Harper. Hope to see you at our lunch table soon." Madison comments and struts to her table.
