Never Ever Hopeless

Lina

has been childish
but is forced to mature

scarred by her parents passing

sibling of Jonas, who never leaves her side,
daughter of innocents viewed as criminals

who knows she has to be strong for others

longs to have freedom from the tourtureful concentration camps

loves expressing herself in times of hopelessness

who feels love for her family,
yet undying hatred towards the NKVD

who risks her life and well being for her family
while living a life with no rights

hopeful her drawings can get to her dad

refuses to be the damsel in distress

thought by Stalin as litter, worthless, not worthy of a future
arranged in unhygienic mud huts like animals

lives in fear of being taken from whom she loves

who wishes she asked more questions
to help her family in the beginning of it all

keeps hope and courage even in times of melancholy

watching thoughts of rescue sail away from people who need it most
and there is nothing she can do about it
