Prologue

I hope you all enjoy and for some sort of intro here is the back story of each character.

Katie

Katie was only five when her mother was killed. She and her mother we're going for a walk on a long, winding dirt path that wrapped around a public park and a moderately dense wood. As they we're walking past a particularly dense portion, a rustle was heard from one of the bushes. Katie's mother, being the responsible adult that she was, began to walk faster, eventually picking Katie up to move quicker. Little did she know, the quicker she ran, the more aggresive the predator got.

As they ran down the seemingly neverending path, the predator ran after them, quickly gaining speed. As the furry beast approached their position, Katie recognized it as wolf. A large, scruffy, black-furred wolf and it was coming right after her. Katie's grip on her mother's shoulders tightened as the wolf began to lunge at her and her mother. She squeezed her eyes shut as the wolf caught hold of her mother's foot, causing her to fall.

As Katie's mother fell, she twisted slightly so that Katie fell on top of her. When they hit the ground, the wolf immediately began to attack them, clawing and biting at them. Most of the attacks we're blocked by Katie's mother's arms, but a few times, Katie was able to feel claws rake across her arms and legs.

Before the wolf could do too much, Katie's mother threw Katie away from her and lunged at the wolf. As Katie's mother distracted the wolf, she began screaming at Katie to try and escape. Katie, not wanting to upset her mother, ran off down the path as fast as her mangled little legs could carry her. She ran the entire mile length to the large park where she yelled and screamed for help. When she finally returned to her mother with help, there was nothing left but a bloody trail that led into the woods.

The next thing Katie remembered was being driven off to a catholic church where she would stay for the rest of her life. Little did she know that her stay at Saint Matthew's Church would be no where near as comfortable as her old life. They tried to force their beliefs and religions onto her, which made her resent them, and they tried to regulate everything she did. It was utter hell until she turned 16. That's when she was told that she would finally be leaving that hellhole... what she wasn't told was that that hellhole she'd left led her to another hellhole. One filled with a group of sadistic vampires.

Adri

Adri was only three when she was taken away from her once peaceful life. She and her father lived out in the country, seperated from society. Adri liked it this way. Even if she didn't make friends she had her father. Adri's father hired a tutor to teach Adri school. Little did Adri know, her peaceful life would come to an end that night.

As her father tucked her into bed, Adri asked her father for a bed time story. Her father grabbed a book about a princess and a vampire. The story went like this. A princess lived in a castle far away and had no one but the king as her company. It almost sounded like Adri's life. One night a vampire came into the princess' room and sucked her blood, turning her into a vampire as well. The king banished his own daughter from the castle and she and the vampire lived together forever.

Adri's father finished the story and kissed his daughter goodnight. She slept soundly, dreaming about vampires. In the middle of the night the wind blew Adri's bedroom door open, thus frightening the young girl. She screamed but a hand covered her mouth. In her ear a voice whispered I have come to save you. A pair of fangs came out and bit her neck. Blood dripped down her throat and she shook. Her father came running into the room and saw what was going on. He held a gun in hand and shot the vampire in the arm. The vampire hissed and flew away. Before leaving he looked at Adri and mouthed the words Your welcome then left.

Adri's father ran to his daughter and inspected the wound. He grabbed his daughter's bunny and some clothes and put them in a luggage case. The little girl wondered what her father was doing. The father picked his daughter up and brought her to a church. Saint Matthew's Church to be exact. He begged the priests to lock away Adri's powers for she was turning into a vampire. They placed her down on a table and the last thing she could remember was her father saying the words I'm sorry then he left. Left her alone to rot in this hellhole. They tried to force their religion on her. She was already a catholic but they wanted her to worship God more. Only until she was 17 would Adri realize that the place she called home was more comforting then where they would send her. She would have rather lived in a church then in a mansion full of sadistic vampires.

Shelby

At age 4, Shelby Flo had already been through more than most of everyone else she knew. Her mother had developed a drinkng habit and at times would seem like an entirely different person. In fact, when drunk, her mother didn't even resemble a person, she resembled a monster. A cold hearted, unforgiving monster that would vent her feelings to an impressionable little girl.

On Shelby's fourth birthday, she was given a stuffed bear named Teddy. She was cautious of the scruffy looking bear at first, but not too long afterwards, she got used to the bear and played with it for the rest of her birthday. Soon it was her bed time, so her mother put her to sleep. A few hours later, her mother, completely wasted, came into her room and tipped her crib over. Shelby woke up instantly and immediately saw the angry scowel on her mother's face.

Her mother, blaming Shelby for the incident, snatched the bear out of Shelby's hand, ripping it's arm in the process. She then took the bear into another room and put it into a washing machine, which forced the remaining stuffing out of the bear through the hole in it's torso where it's arm had previously been.

When Shelby saw the bear she was distraught and began to cry, angering her mother further. Her mother then began to approach the little girl angrily, which frightened Shelby. Shelby quickly ran away and hid in a cuboard in the kitchen. She hid there for the rest fo the night and she was haunted by dreams of her mother chasing her throughout abandoned libraries and swamps. The next morning, Shelby awoke to her mother quietly sobbing in front of the cupboard, three bottles of whiskey at her feet. Before Shelby could do anything else, a knock was heard at her front door. Shelby could see that her mother was not planning to open the door, so she ventured to the door herself and opened it, using a nearby stool.

When the door opened, a tall man stood at the door and smiled down at her. He introduced himself to the little girl before escorting her to a black car waiting outside her house. Shelby guessed that she probably wouldn't see her mother ever again, and that thought made her feel slightly better. The man drove Shelby to an old church named after Saint Matther where she stayed until she became 16 years old. At age 16, Shelby was told that she'd be sent away again, but what she wasn't told was that she'd be sent to a mansion full of vampires.
