Walking through the outskirts of the city was intimidating at first. It was easy to tell that the outcasts lived here.

I kept a close distance to Sirus as he was more familiar with the place.

Eventually he stopped at a small building with a curtain for a door.

He pulled the curtain open and walked into the building, and I followed reluctantly.

We were greeted by an older looking woman. She had black frizzy hair with strands of Grey and her eyes were white and emotionless.

"Who's that?" the woman asked pointing at me. I stepped behind Sirus.

"Akemi, guard of the gates of our world," Sirus grabbed my wrist and pulled me from behind him so she could get a good look at me.

"Looks a bit young," she said suspiciously narrowing her eyes.

"I thought the same when I saw her guarding the gates between our world and those fuckers," he said pointing up referring to humans.

"Get to the point, what do you want?" the woman snapped.

"Manuscript for a masking spell," Sirus said reaching into the pocket of his vest for what I'm assuming is currency.

"And why would you ask for that?"

"Satan needs her on Earth," he replied pointing to me.

"Sounds fun," she chuckled sarcastically digging through a basket of scattered manuscripts.

She pulled out one sealed by an aqua ribbon and handed it to me.

"You'll figure it out quick," she reached her hand out towards Sirus, "200, as for you,"

Sirus sighed sarcastically with a grin and pulled out two hundred in skull pendants(the form of currency in the black market)

"Now shoo!" the woman barked waving us off the same way Lucifer did with me.

Me and Sirus stepped out of the building and we heard her pull the curtains shut.

"The second you use any form of magic that form you're offered disappears," Sirus explained as we walked down the gravel streets cutting through alleys to my home.

"So I have to rely on my spear," I sighed. Anything I've so far heard isn't making this any easier and in fact is making me feel worse about this.

"You're reflexes are fast, that and your spear will serve you well," he assured me.

"You sound way to comfortable with this happening,"

A grim look took over his face the second the words escaped my lips. "You're wrong,"

"What?"

"I'm nervous about this, more so that you're going alone,"

"Surprising coming from you,"

"I've known you since you were 10. The though that you actually might die-"

"Can we stay off the topic of my dying?" I cut him off.

"Yeah..sure,"

We pushed the front door open and I walked across the living room and I lifted up my spear, putting into the sheath attached to the back of my shirt.

"Aren't you gonna say anything to your mother or Lilith?"

I shook my head.

"Why?"

"My mother would start a fight with Lucifer and get executed,"

"And why did you make me promise to take care of Lilith if you die? What about your mother?"

"My mother isn't mother material, she hasn't been since my father died,"

"I'm sorry," he said as he set his hand on my shoulder.

I gently pushed his hand aside. "It's...fine,"

"With the exorcist guards take my advice and explain to them why you're there," Sirus said.

I nodded in acknowledgememt. "Okay,"

"You'll probably need to start going down there,"

"Wait can't I just use the spell on myself before I go through the portal?" I inquired.

"You seem to forget that the manuscript can only be used once. And to get through the portal you need magic. And once you use magic your firm goes back to normal,"

"Shit..." I muttered under my breath.

"Let's get you down there,"

"Okay..."

The walk to the main gate leading to the portal was silenced by the emotional tension Sirus knew I was feeling.

Finally we both stood before the large maroon red gates with a large wolf skull that served as a lock.

"You got the manuscript?" Sirus asked.

I nodded and pointed to it hidden in one of the belt loops of my ripped cyan pants.

"Come back alive..please," he begged.

I took a hold of the sleeve of his black vest and made a promise I could not assure I could keep.

"I'll be back, I promise,"

-------------------

So I know this chapter seems extremely filler-ish and I get that. And it kinda is. I needed this to lead up to when Akemi would leave everything behind and stop there.
