Prologue:

Caleb's POV:

I was on the way to the circus that had just come in town, and a bunch of my buddies wanted to see what all the hub-bub was about. Jason was singing loudly, and off-key when we pulled into the parking lot. Aaron cut the engine once we were parked and hollered,

"Alright, ya drunken assholes. Outta my car."

"Aww. Aaron's a bit sore he isn't drunk." Jake slurred reaching up to ruffle Aaron's hair.

"Quit it ya shit." Aaron snapped.

"Oh Aaron quit 'yer bitching. I'm not drunk either." I said exasperated. "I could have driven."

Aaron just grumbled while we all slipped from the car. Jake took hold of my arm as he wobbled over the uneven grass parking lot. We stumbled into the circus, our heads swiveling in sync with each other as we watched the many people swirl by us and the carnies cheer, call and holler at one another as they performed.

This was a wolf community, -Well, besides the circus people; They were humans.- where everyone knew each other. You don't see humans anymore. The world has been dominated by the underworld creatures. Werewolves, Grimm's, Witches and Warlocks, Night Crawlers, and many other supposedly mythical creatures. Vampires though, are a rarity. They've kind of died out when the Wolf rebellion arose. The werewolves took out most of the vampires because they had kept our kind as pets. Even Grimm's are rare now. There are less humans than Grimm's and less Vampires than Humans.

Some of the underworld creatures kept vampires as servants. They were unruly creatures, so bloodthirsty and angry. Even now I could detect several vampires on the circus grounds. The humans used them for cleaning up. From what I could tell all the vampires were male, and early turned. They bowed their heads as they wobbled past Jake and I. Jake grumbled about the vampire's smell, before gagging and letting my arm go. He dropped to his knees and promptly puked up the alcohol and food he had in his system.

The alcohol wasn't what got Jake and the guys drunk. It was the drug inside of the alcohol. The younger kids call it Steam because when placed in an alcoholic beverage, it steams. Steam is the only thing that can get werewolves drunk off their asses.

Once Jake was done heaving, I leaned towards him and yelled,

"I'm going to go find something to eat and look around. Meet you guys at the car in an hour."

"Don't get too lost Caleb!" He hollered back.

I nodded, flashing a peace sign over my shoulder and ambled over to the consessions stand, and ordered myself a popcorn and a burger with fries and a drink. I sat down on one of the picnic tables to eat, and sip slowly at my drink. The burger was good, as were the fries. Now I was just munching on my popcorn, making sure to savor the flavors. I took another sip of my drink, checked my watch and stood up. I tossed the popcorn into the trash, along with my empty soda cup and left the tent area to go find the parking lot. Once I spotted the car, I found my buddies standing around joking with one another.

"There ya are Cabe! Where the hell ya been?" Aaron shouted, and laughed.

"Hitting on some of those human girls Aaron! I bet you that's where he's been. He's always had a thing for the differents." Jake hooted.

Aaron, Jake and Jason all fell over each other laughing hysterically. I snorted and opened the passenger door and fell onto the seat. I crossed my arms, and waited as the guys eventually collected themselves and filed into the car before speeding off towards home. They dropped me off at my cabin, and left for their own homes.
