The detective has been working on this murder case for the last three days. He has some theories judging from the abstracts given by the forensics, been to the crime scene twice, interrogated the witnesses without consent, which earned him a strict scolding from the commissioner and still, nothing. And it's driving him to the edge.

Chief Inspector Megure sent Shinichi home early this afternoon after learning that he had apparently spent the entire night at the station. Clearly, this did not stop Shinichi as he had been flipping through the case files for the past four hours since he stepped foot into the mansion. "What am I missing? There has to be something I'm overlooking," Shinichi rubbed his forehead. He reached over to the side of the table to grab a file from the stack of documents, accidentally knocking over a pencil holder.

"Shit."

Cursing at every object in his sight, Shinichi got off his chair and walked towards the offensive mess he created on the floor. Sitting down with knees to chest, he closed his eyes for a rest to calm himself down.

"Overworking again?"

Shinichi lifted his head immediately at the voice of the intruder, only to see his boyfriend standing by the door.

"Kaito," He addressed and glanced at the wall clock across the room before turning back to face his boyfriend, "You finished early today?"

"I didn't, Shinichi. You just work overtime all the time," Kaito sighed, approaching the detective to pick up the scattered pens on the floor. "Also, Megure-san may or may not have called to inform me that my boyfriend didn't even leave the station last night."

Shinichi frowned when Kaito gave him a worried look. "Sorry, it's just this case I'm working on. I know I'm missing something but I don't know what." He scratched the back of his head. Kaito restored the pencil holder to its original condition before moving over to sit next to Shinichi. Placing an arm around his waist, Kaito pulled his boyfriend closer to give him a gentle peck to the cheek. "Hmm... doesn't sound like what my detective would normally say."

"I know, shut up," Shinichi retorted, despite the faint pink forming across his cheeks. Resting his head on the magician's shoulder, Shinichi stretched for another document but didn't even touch it when Kaito towed his hand back to interlock their fingers. "And you can't even pay me some attention while I'm here," the magician asserted, tilting his head to look directly into the detective's azure eyes. Shinichi sighed and leaned in for a kiss.

"There. You got your attention," he said while getting up, "Now if you don't mind, I really need to-"

He was cut off with an embarrassing shriek by the sudden force of Kaito pushing him against the table. Leaning forward with one leg in between Shinichi's, Kaito proceeded to suck on the detective's exposed nape, satisfied with the adorable whining he received. "Oh, but I do mind, detective." He clarified, smirking at his now fiercely flushed boyfriend.

Kaito continued to plant kisses all over Shinichi's face and neck. And Shinichi let him. Because after all, the kisses were comforting and he was well aware that objecting wouldn't work on the magician anyway. Only Kaito could control him like this.

"Is that... tiramisu?" Shinichi commented with a small laugh while smacking his lips after a deep kiss, abruptly reminding himself that he had skipped lunch. "Mmhmm, a delectable gift from a fan," Kaito lifted his head from the detective's neck to present him with an impish smile, "But nothing is more delicious than you, Shinichi."

Said person felt his entire face burn and was about to reprimand the magician when his stomach decided to further embarrass him with an obnoxious growl. Shinichi could have sworn he wanted to dive into Wonderland's rabbit hole right there and then because Kaito stared at him in wide-eyed amusement before bursting into laughter. The detective, ironically, mentally calculated the chances of going scot-free with the murder of his stupid boyfriend but scrapped the idea after deciding that the chance was close to zero. Instead, he buried his face in Kaito's shoulder, breathing in his cologne.
