Fast forwarding to the next year of middle school, I didn't really experience bullying anymore since I had more friends to stay at my side. I had made new friends with some new kids that year and even some classmates. One particular friendship I was fond of was the one I made with my crush, Jose. I had the hugest crush on him, but I was often too scared to talk to him since I was so shy. Thanks to a group activity we had to do in class, I was forced to speak to him and we became friends shortly after that.
I was really happy during that time, but it was short lived after I got in a spat with one of my good friends. Her name was Miranda and she was one of my first friends that I made since going to that school. She often talked about her crush, Spencer, who was a grade above us. One day, she came to me upset thinking I had spilled her secret about her crush because I guess his sister, who was in our grade, knew about her crush. I was utterly confused because I never told anybody about who she liked because I just wasn't the type to gossip, that was more of her thing.
"You told Mikayla that I like Spencer!" She told me as she got in my face with her friend, Alani, next to her. I kept repeating myself over and over that I never spilled the beans, that maybe it was possible she was overheard by someone and they probably told Mikayla. Miranda was a loud talker sometimes so I thought it would be a possibility.A few days after that confrontation, I was being messed with by Alani and Miranda stopped talking to me. Even during P.E., I was once pushed into my locker by Alani as she passed by. That whole situation blew over in a matter of months and my main friend group consisted of my crush, Jose, his friend Aiden, and my good friend Kira who was one of the new kids I befriended. We all were besties, we had nicknames for each other and we walked home together. That all changed when summer rolled past and 8th grade was about to start because Kira wasn't going to be attending that school anymore. To make matters worse, Jose suddenly stopped wanting to be friends with me and told me to delete his number.
Nothing is worse than not knowing the reason why someone does something, especially when someone is upset with you. It makes you feel as if you've done something to cause it, but you never truly know. It's very unsettling and the feeling isn't one of the best. Once the new school year for 8th grade started, I just had to end up avoiding Jose around school and that really minimized my friends since Kira and my other friend Amari stopped going to that school. Not too long later, I met someone new named Stella. She was down on friends like I was and what was even crazier was that she knew Jose too, not just that but she even used to like him. So we had that in common and we became really close friends.
I may not have been friends with Jose anymore, but I didn't let that get me down and I met many new people who were great. I even gained new crushes along the way. I made close bonds with the people I had left, along with the new friends I had created that year. High school was nearing and I couldn't be any more excited to move forward with all my friends. We had a field trip to the high school that our middle school students were guaranteed to get into, so I hoped with all my heart that I would be with all of my friends.
