School is the same as usual, crowds of students swarm the halls emitting loud rumbles of chatter. I wait, leaning on my small locker for the majority of students to clear the bright hallway, with my sketch book held against my chest. Posters for numerous clubs and activities cover the walls with radiant colors, designed to grab attention.
I unknowingly grimace. My sweetheart is nowhere to be seen. Why should the world appear lighthearted while my heart is filled with sorrow? I clutch my book harder and  walk to class.
As I take my seat the bell rings, signaling the start of class. The instructor calls out attendance, and right as he calls my darling's name she runs through the door.
"I'm here!" She leans on the doorframe panting from running. A wave of relief and happiness wash over me. I can finally relax knowing she is safe in my presence.
"Late for the second time Ms. Pierce," Mr. Clark glared at her under thin glasses. I scowled at him. So what she was a moment tardy, she shouldn't be chastised for that! "Don't let it happen again." A low growl emits from my throat and my hands clench my skirt. How dare he threaten her!
"I-I won't, sir." She stuttered with a cute blush dusting her cheeks. It seems no matter how enraged I am, she calms me down. I watched her every flawless movement until she reached her seat, next to me of course.
"Hey, you alright?" I whispered to her, a sprinkle of worry in my voice. She's never late.
Being this close I could see the fine details of her golden eyes. Flecks of brown spotted her iris, and her brown-nude eyeshadow adds some wonderful sparkle to her face. As if of their own free will, my eyes drift down to her soft lips coated with pink lipstick.
"Yeah, but I slept through my alarm and had to run here!" She whisper-shouted, being somewhat dramatic. But this is one of her charming qualities, so I let it slide.
"Students! Take out your homework from last night." Mr. Clark ordered.
Class went by slower than normal due to the dullness of it all.

The bell signaling lunch time rang, startling the students. Catalina and I walk to the school courtyard. She spoke as we walked behind the cluster of people. Going on about her inner thoughts, and I listened intensely. I loved hearing her voice, it wrapped me up and wouldn't let go.
She was cut off by a shout. "Sarah, Catalina! Over here!" Thomas called waving to us. He sat under a large tree with his meal in front of his crossed legs.
A boy I haven't seen before sat next to him. The boy had short, dyed blue hair covered mostly by a grey beanie. His eyes were a pretty blue, almost grey. A black unzipped hoodie covered his arms and a pair of bulky headphones adorned his neck.
We came closer and sat in the warm grass. The two gave us smiles that we returned. "Guys, this is Logan. He's new to this school and a bit nervous." Thomas chuckled, wrapping an arm around the boy's shoulders.
Logan's eyes wandered landing next to me, a light pink hue started building on his cheeks. I followed his gaze, finding Catalina. She smiled at him, beginning to blush as well.
My brows furrowed in uncertainty. Why were the blushing? They shouldn't be blushing. Oh no, what if he likes her? Wait. They just saw one another, pfft, they can't like each other.
I calmed myself, breathing slowly in and out. Thomas grabbed my attention by tapping my knee. "Yes, Tommy?" He hated when I called him Tommy, a name his mother gave him as a small child.
He grumbled. "Have you told her yet?" A devilish smirk rose his mouth.
I leaped forward and covered his mouth with my hand. Please let her not have heard. Quickly I looked to my sweetheart. What the? Logan was making her laugh!? No, no. He can't do that! Only I can! A wet sensation coated my hand, snatching me away from the disgusting sight.
Pulling my hand close to me, a smiling Thomas gazed at me. "Did you lick my hand?" I ask shocked.
He just laughed. "You should have expected it, Sarah. We've been friends since we were four years old. So thirteenth years now." I roll my eyes and wipe my hand off on his shirt. "So, have you?" He persisted.
"Don't talk so loud, she'll hear," I sigh and avert my gaze to the dark green grass. "And no, I haven't told her. But I plan to, I have it all mapped out." I smile as I imagine the scenario.
We've spent the day together around town. I took her to a movie, ice cream, the park. At the end of the day, just as the sun started setting and the clouds become pink, I tell her my feelings. She tells me she feels the same. To end it all, we share a beautiful, heart warming kiss.
"Wow. Just tell her!" Tommy groaned.
"No, it has to be perfect! She deserves the best!" I snap back, startling him. Oh no, I didn't mean to shout. I take in a deep breath. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap like that."
More laughing disrupts our conversation. Both Tommy and I look over to see Logan, holding my kitten's hand on his.
That little twerp! Go away! We don't need you here!
Fury builds in my stomach, overflowing to the rest of my body.
Crawling over to the pair, I sit almost directly in between them, pushing them away. "Hey, what's up over here?" I say, trying to seem casual.
"Logan was showing me a cool hand trick! It's so good! Logan, show Sarah." My pumpkin explained.
"I see," I look at the ape, hiding the scowl behind my eyes. Logan attempted to show an illusion of his hands going through each other. Stupid.
"It's so good, right?" Catalina looked at me with an excited sparkle in her eye. She sent an impressed smile to Logan.
I faked a smile. "Yeah, that's impressive, Logan." I hid the annoyance in my voice and covered it with shock. It should be me making her smile like that, not him. He's an outsider, new. Dangerous. He could be planning to hurt Catalina.
My sweetie giggled. The sound was absolutely alluring. The bell rang, commanding students to leave the courtyard.
