The shrill scream of my alarm wakes me up from my light slumber, causing a groan to escape my chapped lips. I hate the idea of heading to school and putting on the facade of someone who can defend themselves-- even if it is only temporary. I finally sit up, raising my arms above my head- the muscles of my back contracting and then relaxing.
I don't take long to get ready for school. The school I go to requires uniforms every day except for Fridays-- seeing as it is a somewhat less funded school we don't have rules as strict as others. I throw my hair up into a messy bun on the top of my head, the hair so short that it barely goes up into a full bun. I allow some of my hair to hang down around my ears, creating a form of framing around the industrial piercing going across my upper left ear.
Piercings are technically banned at my school, however, I spent too long waiting on this thing to heal to let it remain hidden under my hair all the time. I take a moment to look at the shiny, metal bar in the mirror. The piercing I selected is shaped like an arrow, aiming downwards, the points beautifully carved.
I apply slight makeup, accentuating my soft features and shaping out my lips to create the beautiful v arch that is so common around here. I admire myself in the mirror, taking in my subtle handiwork.
My pale skin stands even paler in the deep blue button up shirt tucked into my white skirt. My button nose is slightly softened from the foundation, the perfect glassy skin look I was going for paying off for my looks in the end.
I glance at the time on my phone before leaving my small home to begin the twenty minute trek to a place that I like to refer to as hell on earth:
High school.

I enter the crowded halls, the odor of teenagers and too much body spray invading my senses in an overwhelming manner. I make my way over to my friends, not surprisingly males, and listen in to the most recent drama.
"Minho, tell her what you found out! About the new kid!" Jisung states, offering a wide heart smile at his less than amused boyfriend. I can see Minho's expression soften as Jisung begins speaking. As hard as he acts-- he truly is soft for the squirrel-like boy who captured his heart.
"Okay, so, here's the tea," Minho starts as our other friend, Felix, plops down in the seat beside me and across from Jisung, "There's a new kid that I saw this morning, but he's kinda weird. He started yelling out random words. I swear I heard him yell fucker and no one even batted an eyelash."
I just look at Minho skeptically. I'm about to call him out on his bull shrimp when all of a sudden he gasps, "Look there he is right there!"
He motions across the cafeteria towards a boy walking around awkwardly, his neck jerking every few seconds. I can't help but wander what the kid is doing. Everyone stares at the boy as he walks by. I'm not one for staring, but something about the way he walks around patting his leg with his head jerking at awkward angles has my attention captured.
The cafeteria goes silent for a moment, the only sound heard is the slight clicking noise coming from unknown source. Suddenly, there is a loud word exclaimed from the middle of the cafeteria, the boy's neck jerking even harder as he says it.
"F-Fuckers!"
After a moment his neck stops twitching and he reaches his hand up to rub it.
