Chapter 11 - We're No Different

[Laughing Jack's POV]

This human told me about her life, which was far from any sad angst I've ever heard.

Never heard of parents who do even half of what her's did. They're not as bad as Issac, however, they're still awful.

Its no wonder she doesn't want me to kill the little child brother she has.

At least they're dead.

Right now, we were just lying on the floor opposite from each other, staring at the ceiling, her eyes streaming with tears, our heads next to each other.

"Well, I must admit, that life is pretty sad," I said.

She sighed and nodded. "Yeah. That's why I try to be the best person for Cayden, but its so hard," she cried quietly. "I just want what's best for him and I can't even keep a stable job and I'm just such a failure."

"Now who said that? Your dead beat parents that are actually dead? What can they say now? Nothing," I said.

She sighed wiping her eyes. "Trauma tends to stick for as long as it wants to."

"Hmmm," I said, then sat up. "I guess so. But why just give yourself those injuries then? Clearly its not healthy."

She sighed. "Because... Its like some punishment. I grew up believing every insult and thinking I deserved every hit I received... And every time I think I did something wrong, I... Punish myself..." She said, looking down.

"Well, don't. Look what I do then look at what you do," I snapped, making her jump, and sit up as I paced the room.

"I kill people, and you hurt yourself in a fatal way, in other words try to kill yourself. That's murder," he said.

She looked down in shame.

"I guess I never looked at it that way," she said, then her clock beeped.

"Shit! I need to pick up Cayden!!" She exclaimed.

She grabbed a purse and jacket, then stops.

"Umm.... Thank you," she said. "I guess."

I just nodded silly before she hesitantly ran off.

Why am I sparing her life, though?

Sorry for not updating in forever. I was finishing Daughter of the Killer family and updating some other stuff.
