...Darkness...

...Blood...

...Flames...

Dark clouds filled the sky as burning flesh floods the air. A tyrant like no other stood upon a massive pile of dead, rotting, corpses. They laughed darkly, screams of people dying powered them, my people were dying and I could not do anything about it.

"Stop!" I cried out, but no sound came from me, no voice was heard.

The Dark Lord had won.

I tried to cower away, but my arms were chained up by large metal cuffs. They were bolted to a metal post in a cross formation, trying to represent the cross that the saviour hung on upon being crucified.

I clenched my fists, it was about all I could do, me hanging there while being forced to watch the beast destroy my kingdom.

"You could have joined me." The Dark Lord called out to me, "we could have ruled the world together."

"I never would have joined you and I never will!" I growled, my words echoing only to the Dark Lord.

"That's a shame." The corners of their mouth curled up into a devious smirk as their eyes glared through me and pierced my soul. "Maybe this will change your mind."

The Dark Lord raises their right hand as a dark purple coloured creature of black magic forms before them; a boy with black hair struggles within the creature's body. His black skin turns grey as the creature's natural poison drains the life force from the boy.

Lance! No!

"Let him go!" I cried louder, but my pain and agony only fueled the tyrant. Their laughter and Lance's screams flood my mind.

"Rory!"

"Aurora!"

...

"Aurora Wells!" My history teacher slammed the palm of her hand against my desk which jolted me backcto reality. "That's the third time this week that you have fallen asleep in my class! Meet with me after school so we can schedule a meeting for your father and I to discuss things." Her eyes pierced my soul and sent a chilling shiver down my back.

"Oooh... someone's in trouble." A few kids at the back of the class giggled, but they were too silent for Mrs. Wrath to hear.

"Now back to the lesson," the grey haired woman spun on her heels and walked back to the board. "What happened January 20th, 2017?" The beast turned to face the class, her beast eyes scanning each student for the answer.

"Donald Trump was elected President of the USA!" A girl with black hair called out as she raised her hand high into the air, she was always so good at history class it made me a bit jealous.

"Good. And in 2019 the government shutdown lasted how many days?" A small grin forms upon my teacher's face as the girl raises her hand once again. "Yes Kami?"

"129 days ma'am, but they rounded it to 130 days." A smile brightens up the girl's round tan face.

"Good. Good." Mrs. Wrath claps her old wrinkled hands together. "Now, in late 2019, Trump got his wall and rid our great nation of the other worlders. Can anyone tell me what happened in 2025?" The woman asked as she shifted her weight to her right hip, placing her right hand upon it.

I know this one! It was the one of the worst years of my life.

I raised my hand, hoping to be called upon.

Please choose me!

"Yes miss Wells." The beast gave me a tired, stern gaze, shifting her weight to her left hip and crossing her arms in the process.

To be honest, she never liked me.

"2025 was the year President Lore was assassinated and Vice President Wells was elected President. It was also the year Canada and the United States Of America merged together to form an even greater nation called Americanada." I placed my elbow against my desk and leaned upon my palm. My brown hair draped over the left side of my face as I leaned against my right arm. I replied with a calm, tired, tone and stared intently into the beast's eyes. I could feel Kami's glare burning through my skull from across the room, I had stolen her spotlight and gotten the question right as well.

"Correct miss Wells, I see you have been reading up." She spoke with a grin, as though my intelligence surprised and amused her at the same time. Her beady eyes flashed as the bell rang for the next period, her grasp on us had faded. "We'll continue this conversation next tomorrow. Class dismissed."

I sighed heavily, standing from my seat and gathering my books together.

"That question was mine." A growl from Kami caught me off guard and I dropped my books, the students around me laughed. I dropped to my knees in defeat to clean up the textbooks I had dropped just moments ago.

Stupid Kami.

"Hey?" A hand reached forward towards the last book, grasping it before I had a chance to. "Need a hand princess?" I looked up at the boy with black hair and he smiled at me. Though he knew how much I hated being called that, he like to tease me constantly with that title. Princess. It's snobby and petty and it's not me.

I'm fine.

I don't need your help.

No, I can't say that.

"Thanks." I smiled warmly at him, he was truly the only human friend I had and I didn't want to lose him.

"No problem," his face scrunched up with a wider smile. "Did you hear we're watching a movie in Mythology class today?" His rasp voice echoed through me and I smiled.

"I did, I heard it's about black magic." My voice filled with excitement as I took the textbook back from him.

"Awesome! Let's hurry so we'll get great seats!" He grabbed my hand with his and practically dragged me out of the room to the other classroom.

I sat in the desk next to Lance, his soft smile warmed mine. His plaid shirt matched my sweater and we both wore blue jeans, it was as though we planned it all - but we didn't.

The lights of the classroom dimmed as the projector clicked on, technology had advanced so much since Trump's era, but yet we still had to use the old style technology.

Pictures flashed upon the screen, I didn't really pay attention until they appeared on screen. A dark slim figure laughed on screen, the artists that drew it pictured them to be a black shadowy mass with a purple grin and bright golden eyes. Their laugh echoed through my mind again, filling it with pain.

I tried to look away but I couldn't. They raised their hands and dark shadowed figures merged from the ground, just like the one from my dreams.

Finally I pulled my eyes from the screen and glanced at Lance, he seemed fine, enjoying the film and thinking nothing of it. I closed my eyes and shook my head.

I'm just paranoid. That's it. Simply paranoid.

Yes. Paranoid. Hehe.

The second voice in my head surprised me, I glanced up at the screen and the figure was starring right at me.
