I shivered. Rain makes everything cold even if it's summer and you're inside. I was waiting for the cashier to scan all my items and give me the bill. I rubbed my hands together and stuck them into the pouch of my black hoodie. The cashier gave me the bill with a cold smile. Her long golden-pink nails handing it out like it were rubbish. I opened my black wallet and put 20 pounds in front of her. There is no way we would touch, I told myself. She looked at me with her boring cold eyes and then she eyed the display of cash. I wanted to say that I know it's £22.56 but I didn't. I never do. Whenever I should say something, I don't. I'm too afraid. I just do what I'm told most of the time to try and avoid any conflict or random outburst of anger. Usually people then start yelling and I don't like being yelled at. So I searched for the remaining charge and while I did, I dropped almost everything I had in the wallet. I earned a dramatic eye-roll from the cashier and a few grunts from the older guy behind me. Maybe he was in a hurry and I made him even later now. I'm sorry, I thought and searched out three pounds and gave them to the woman behind the register. I put everything back including the change and grabbed two full linen bags and hurried out of the store. As I went I rotated my ring around my left ring finger.
I shivered once I got out. It was even colder than before. I looked at my watch and jogged as fast as I could to the bus station. My heart was beating fast and my breathing was uneven. I was not in the shape for running. I wasn't in the shape for any sport if I'm honest. I wasn't really obese but I wasn't thin either. I was in a poor shape.
I turned left and when I reached the end of some building but to my misfortune and misfortune of a lovely twenty something guy, we collided. We both stumbled few inches backwards.
"I'm so, so sorry," I started to apologize the second I hit him.
"It's allrigh' darling," he told me with reassuring smile, his voice sweet and deep. His eyes sparkled just like the snow in the sun does. I was mesmerised. They were so green, like the clouds when there's a tornado coming.
"You allrigh'?" he asked me as he noticed that I was staring unblinkingly.
I shook my head lightly: "Yes I-I am. I'm sorry." My cheeks burned red.
"Just that you're. It looked like you were in some kind of a trance there," he smirked.
"I'm – I'm fine, thanks," I stuttered and looked down.
We were in awkward silence for a moment and I started to rotate the ring again. Well, at least it was awkward to me, he appeared only to be smirking. I looked past his shoulder and apologetically said that my bus is coming. He looked back and stepped away so I could pass. I thanked him and he winked. Like a small dear I jumped into the bus and had found myself and my two bags a seat upstairs since it wasn't so full.
I put my hoodie down and glanced at the handsome guy, who was still standing in the rain. He went through his past shoulder long hair. I wish I could do that. I giggled and thought how stupid I was. He looked at the bus and then raised his head and when the bus started moving he saw me. He smiled and showed all his white teeth and waved. I was so surprised that I didn't wave back just quickly looked away. By the time I realised how rude that was it was too late. I sighed disappointed in myself.
Once i came home i was greeted by my brothers. They raced downstairs as to which one of them will hug me first. Tom came first and embraced me. He swayed me left and right and then Luke joined us. We were there for few minutes. I love how we love each other. The bags on my shoulders started aching me but I could care less. I could stay like this forever.
My twin brothers were akin. They had deep brown eyes that even I shared with them. They had dark dirty blond hair that no one knows where they got it from. I assume they got it from grandpa Joseph from what could be seen on old pictures of him, but even he hadn't really had blonde hair. My hair was more like my mother's. Dusty brown. I don't like it too much but she kept telling me that it looked beautiful just the way it is. I don't know how she's the one to judge my opinion on my hair colour since she has always been dyeing her hair chocolate brown.
