She's the Girl Next Door

Chapter One

Matt was getting ready for his senior year of high school, he walked down stairs and said goodbye to his parents, "do you want me to drive you" His dad asked him,
"no it's fine I'll just take the bus". Matt tried not to spend that much time with his dad lately, as he's always hassling him to try out for the football team and always asking him about girls, sometimes Matt thinks that his dad just wants him to be someone he's not.

Matt entered school, "okay I can survive one more year" he reassured himself,  his best friend Ben walked over to him "hey" he said

"Hey Ben"

"So did you see Jen this morning"

"Jeez Ben, why do you always want to talk about Jen for" Matt asked

" Because she's hot and she lives next door to you, I mean dude your bedrooms are facing each other and your balcony's are like a metre apart"

"For the record, her curtains are always closed and she's never even been out on her balcony"

"okay, alright, but if we're being honest Matt all I heard through middle school and most of high school was Jen's name, I mean you were practically in love with her"

"Look I know, but I've moved on, I mean I was one of 20 guys who liked her, so"

"Alright then" Ben said, unconvinced

Matt and Ben started walking to class, " I'm so glad that we only have one year left in this hell hole" Ben sighed
"Me too".

Ben and Matt have been best friends since pre-school and they're both the presidents of the AV club, They used to get bullied a lot in middle school, but not so much anymore.

Matt and Ben arrived in class and sat at the front like always(even though Matt preferred the back so he wouldn't get noticed), the teacher started doing role call, Matt always hated having to say yes during role call, as he hated talking to people, the only people he felt comfortable around were his family and he's close friends, he knew he had social anxiety but he never got professionally diagnosed as he was to scared to ask his parents (most specifically his dad) to go see a therapist.

"Matt Carter" Mr Jacobs called

"Yes"he said really quietly, Matt was relieved the teacher could hear him this time.

"Jennette Cooper"

"Yes I'm here, and for the last time, it's just Jen"

"Okay fine then Ms Cooper".

Mr Jacobs finished the role call. Matt was having trouble concentrating as all he could hear was Jen and her boyfriend Owen talking to each other, he didn't really feel like saying anything, but he did

"Hey can you just keep it down a bit"

"Mind your own business dork" Owen sniggered

Crap now people are looking at me, Matt thought,

"Owen stop being a jackass" Jen cursed

"Keep it down or I'm giving you detention" Mr Jacobs yelled

Owen was about to say something but Jen stopped him.

Lunch came and Matt and Ben went to join their friends, they hanged out in a small group with one other guy and sometimes their friend Liam's girlfriend Aubrey came over and sat with them. Matt never really talked to her much, as he always found it hard to talk to girls even if he wasn't crushing on them, he lusted after Jen for years and never said a word to her and she lives literally 2 steps away from him.

Everyone was just talking when Aubrey and Liam started making out

"Fucking hell guys, get a room" Ben swore

"Well at least I have someone to get a room with" Liam boasted

"Guys come on" Matt said

"Fine I'm sorry" Liam apologised

"Me to" Ben said

Liam and Ben always argued, they were friends, but their personalities were just to different.

It was the end of the day and Matt started to walk out of the school. Aubrey walked beside him

"See you Matt" she said

He sort of gave her an awkward smile and left. He found his mum waiting for him in the car.

"How was school" she asked

"It was good" Matt said, even though he was lying through his teeth, he didn't want to bother his mum with his problems.

"That's great" she said

They pulled up at their house

"Oh, Carol and John must of bought Jen a car" Matt's mum noted
She was friends with Jen's parents, but it never brought Matt closer to Jen

"Oh cool" Matt said

" You know me and your dad were thinking about buying you a car"

"Really"

"Maybe for your birthday if we can afford it"

"Sweet" Matt said
