CHAPTER 2: "Running"

I take a deep breath as I calm myself down from what i had just experienced. I manage to regain my power, my hand lets go of the bloody shard of glass and blood starts dripping from my hand. I take a closer look at the dead corpse lying on the ground that I just had killed. It had red, almost completely dry skin. I turn the body over to take a look at its face. The monster had completely bloodshot eyes. It looked like a 20 year old male. I had almost finished inspecting the body when it started twitching again, I jump back but its no threat, blood started pouring out of the mouth of the man. 20 seconds passed and the body stopped twitching. It was almost as if it used its last resort, to infect and take over a new host.

Before i did anything else i could hear more of them, running just outside the alley, towards the sound of what seems to be soldiers open fire at something. I wait a couple of minutes before walking out of the alley, I see army vans and trucks almost flying into the city. I decide to run after the trucks to see if I could get help. I get to the corner of the city block and the city square was burning with multiple different fires and more of those monsters running around. more army men arrive at the city square to fight them off. but it doesnt look like it will be enough.

2 minutes after fighting the sick people, the soldiers get overrun. Suprisingly I stood there, just completely still, looking at the chaos as jet fighters fly over the square. time stops as they carpet bomb the city square. I fly back by the shockwave and it leaves me in schock as i lay on the ground. I quickly recover to soon find an opened aparpment building. I hurry inside and shut the door and I finally take a deep breath. Power in the aparpment had been completely shut off, so it was almost pitch black and nothing was visible but a counter and an elevator in the distance.

My first thought was to check the the counter for a key or anything, thats exactly what i find, a key and a torch left by the guard as they were leaving. I turn on the torch and look over at the elevator. It was clear that the elevator was at the end of a corridor and the corridor had 4 different doors. guessing the key was for one of the doors, I was asuming one of the doors would lead to stairs since there wasnt any power in the building to run the elevator. I was right, the last door to the left opened showing blocked stairs going down and stairs going up. I have no choice but to move up.

Minutes pass by of walking up stairs, eventually i reach the top floor, wich wasnt finished yet so it was open from every side and there wasnt a roof. Sooner or later I hear the same jet fighters coming back for another bombing, this time they were aiming at the building beside mine. As i looked over to the building next to the one I was standing on, i could see it was swarming with those monsters. they where all running to the top of the building for some weird reason. Just then I hear gunshots coming from the top of the building. It wasnt the army, no, these were survivors and they were about to get killed eitherway, by the bombers or the monsters.

Just as the jet fighters were at the building ready to fire. one of them wouldnt drop their bombs. It blew up in air, completely obliterating both of the fighter planes in the process. All of a sudden something blew up behind me, almost flinging me off the building but i manage to stay on. I try my best to recover and stand up to see what had just happened. blood was running from my forehead as i look over at the other building. The monsters change their focus to my, blown building. The monsters start running off the building, killing themselves in the process. 30 of them at a time just kept on falling off trying to get to my building. Minutes pass by, eventually they all fell off the building and i could see the survivors coming out of their hiding spot on top of the building. They look over to me, everyone screaming and waving over at me, notifying me that theyre alive. But i cant hear them, my vision gets blurry and my hearing turns completely deaf.

I fall to the ground of the roof. the last thing i saw was the survivors running into what seemed to be a staircase... I close my eyes and tell myself... "Im okay" "im alive"...
