Do you know that feeling? When it's like you've lost something but can't remember what it was & where you put it? It's as though you're trying so desperately to think of a word related to it but it just won't come to you. You've said it a million times before, pictured it a bunch of times already and it was always right there ---- right where you left it. You totally remember where you put it. But now, you just can't recall it. You try and try to make it appear and it almost does, but in fact it never did. Suddenly you feel like giving up. "Oh my, why does it have to be like this?" you said.
Let's sit back and reflect. We live in a world where chances are given even sometimes without our demand, and golden opportunities are considered a blessing that not everyone get to achieve. If we want something, we would have to work really hard to have that something. But when somebody gets what they want, sometimes they tend to forget about the value of that something because they'll feel comfortable enough when they're sure that it's in their hands and they think that they won't ever lose them. Isn't it true? Try to look around you and list all of the things you have taken for granted. I guess that's a personality trait for people after all.
Here's the thing, think about something you worked so hard to get and once when it's in your hands, somehow day by day, year by year, its value starts to fade away in your eyes. For an example, you worked very hard to get an A in your chemistry test. One day, you got an A+ and you were definitely happy. (well this applies on any other matter / object you'd think of) So, remember when you were so desperate to achieve it in the first place? However, somehow when you feel that it's in your hands, it's starting to look like you're getting bored with it because you can't seem to get where it would lead you next. You don't seem to get a clear vision of what's happening afterwards. So your affection towards it starts to sink & degenerate. When you get bored of it, maybe one day you'll lose it. Or maybe it's long gone already by now? So when it's lost, it sort of disturbs you, you feel very uneasy, and you can't sleep at night. So you try to search for it once again, and it sort of looks like you're starting the whole process all over again. "Oh no. Why is this happening?" you said that again to yourself.
It's actually not a bad idea to occasionally spend a little time thinking about things you have taken for granted. It's normal to do that, because you know, we're just human beings, we tend to forget, we tend to make mistakes and sometimes, we just forget, okay? So don't blame yourself when you lose something. What's not okay is when you put the blame on someone else when it's clearly your fault. I'm pretty sure even Donald Trump wouldn't want to be blindly blamed for something he had never done before. Let's learn from our past mistakes and never take anything for granted. And by anything, I also mean anyone. We should never take people for granted. You have no idea how special you are and how much you mean to them, until you lose them. On the other hand, they'll never know how special they mean to you, because maybe you just don't know how to show your appreciation towards them, and sometimes they're just too shy to show you that they care. So why is that happening actually? [Ego. Pride. Reluctance]. There will be no further explanation.
Everything happens for a reason, they say. I believe that. They also said that nothing lasts forever. I believe that too. It's just that sometimes I get confused with the absolute purpose of everything. I don't know what it is or what I have lost. There's always this emptiness inside the soul. But I know that it was important, I know that it once made me happy. If only someone would tell me what it is. Trust me, we'll understand the idea of regret just as soon as we lose something.
Life comes at you fast. We're just like blades of grass. We come to prime some days, but in time, we just wither away. You know what they say, people come and go, and nothing lasts forever. Well this may sound cliché but you know clichés are there for a reason, right? Every second counts, every minute matters, every hour is promising, and every day is worth living with an abundant of benefits. Take the opportunity to do something different everyday, and never ever take anyone or anything for granted. Let's cherish every moment with our loved ones wisely and remember that opportunity is always coming but sometimes they just simply don't knock on your door. You have to get up and meet him.
