Prophecy

Out From the darkness, they will appear,

Out from the shadows, there will be hope

When hope arises, people will fall,

And, as people fall, Evil Follows.

Chapter 1

Evil. Darkness. Death. Everything that shatters a person's soul however , hope always arises.

Quix, ran though the prophecy in her mind. The words lingered in her head, this prophecy seemed so... un-prophecy like. It was so, obvious, " When hope arises people will fall. And as people fall Evil Follows". Quix thought. She pulled the cloak closer, analyzing the area around her. The icy wind made the leaves dance and fly, while other leaves only dragged themselves along.

" Where is he?" In an annoyed voice Quix looked around impatiently, It had at the very least been half an hour of waiting. Half an hour of her time waiting, standing around, watching stupid leaves fly around here and there. Half an hour that she could be relaxing, sleeping even. However instead of those pleasant luxuries she had to standing in the cold waiting for some " Important" person. After the prophecy had been told to the public, Quix received an anonymous letter telling her to meet them near Hyper Hamburger at 10:50 , to discuss an important topic.

Well there she was, at 11:26 p.m. waiting for whoever this person was.

" Help!"

Quix ignored it the first time, children, mostly little girls liked to pretend someone was after them, and scream for their " Knight in shining Armor" to come rescue them. The " Knight in Shining Armor" was normally a neighbor boy, or a big brother. Not to mention this happens at recreation time during school hours.

" Help! Please?!"

Quix silently moved from her corner to see what was the matter. This cry sounded more, desperate. More frightened. As Quix turned the corner she saw a middle age man and a boy in a disagreement. However something was off about man, Quix looked him over, besides the bald head he had a dagger sheathed under his garments, thanks to the full moon a soft shine caught Quix eye indicating a weapon. Jumping backwards she held her throwing knifes. Without hesitation Quix released her knifes, accuracy was on her side, with a satisfying gasp from the older fellow Quix emerged from her hiding spot. No, she had not injured the man, only pinned him to a wall nearby.

After a few moments of prolonged staring Quix breathed

" Is something the matter here?"

" Oh, nothing at all actually". The younger male told her.

Confusion spread across her face.

" Excuse me sir but aren't you upset, or scared?". Quix said

" No i'm not, thanks to you, we know who we were supposed to meet tonight.". The young man said smiling.

" Do you care to explain Sir?". Quix said in a confused tone.

" Well, this fight was staged as you can see. Since i'm not terrified or thanking you to an annoying degree. That letter given to you was from our boss. He's been, watching you per say and he's seen your fighting ability. This old chump and I were sent here to find you, and well, have a friendly chat."

Quix looked at him and then the other man, giving a glare.

" Sent to find me? What does your boss want with me since he's not ashamed of stalking people?" Quix asked furrowing her brows.

" Oh he wasn't stalking you, he was only watching your fighting ability."

Quix remained silent for the time being.

" Well, he wanted you to join our little groups of... Good Assassins". The man smiled at Quix.

" Assassin's?" Quix's eyebrows raised.

" Heroes let's say. I thought assassins sounded more hardcore, but heroes will do as well. Busting crime, saving the common folk, and being paid handsomely for the work we do." Smiling as before this man looked at her expectantly.

" Well, an interview is expected yes?" She said reluctantly

" Yes, it's already arranged." He said.

" M'lady would you be so kind in removing these knives from my clothing?" The older man spoke up.

Quix nodded and briskly took her knives, placing them back into their carrier.

" I hope your alright with sitting in the back" The young man said to Quix.

" Should I not be?" Quix said as she looked around for some sort of ride.

" Oh, no no no. The back is very nice, it's just, you'll be riding by me" He breathed. The two men started heading off towards the north side of town.

Quix watched them, noticing the other man still brushing himself off. Despite his advance in years, the man was lacking in height, Quix noticed him being every so slightly shorter than herself. While the other one, was tall, thin and very, lively.

It had been sometime since she held up that long of a conversation but, she had a feeling there would be many long conversations with them. That is, If she chooses to join these " Heroes". Following in step behind them Quix saw the horse drawn waggon. A beautiful chestnut horse was on the right, with a gorgeous cream colored horse on the left. As Quix jumped up onto the waggon, the young man sat next to her.

" Can I help you with something, sir?" Quix said feeling the waggon start to move.

" There's no need to call me sir, you can call me by my first name." He said looking at her.

" And what would that be?" Quix said looking back at him.

" My name is Aneke, and how about you M'lady?" Aneke said grinning.

" Quix for short" She replied giving him a slight smile

" What's the whole name?" Aneke said giving her a curious look

" Something i'm not telling you yet"
