Shawn's POV
At school, I feel completely excluded. Cam and Taylor are always talking and partnering up in class, and the same with Nash and Matt. I'm like a third wheel, especially during lunch. They're all lovey dovey and kissing nonstop. It's gross and annoying, so I sit alone today at an empty table; it's not like they're going to notice.
I open my lunch bag and pull out my water, sandwich and apple slices. I start eating, then someone sits in front of me; the new boy, Carter.
"Hi," he smiles. "Mind if I sit here?"
"Hello, and not at all," I say.
Carter and I are quiet, then he speaks up.
"Why are you alone?" He asks.
"Um, my friends are kind of eating each others faces. It was annoying so I left," I answer.
"Oh, was it that group of guys back there?" Carter asks, nodding his head behind him.
I nod, then take a bite of an apple slice.
Carter and I talk for the rest of lunch. He's a really nice guy, and also gay. I don't like him like that, I like him as a friend. I like Taylor, maybe even love... But he's with Cam. God, I need to stop.
I throw my garbage away, then grab my stuff and head off to geography, which I have with Taylor.
"Hey," Taylor says.
"Hi," I say.
"Were you at the lunch table?" Taylor asks.
"No, I was eating with new guy, Carter," I reply.
"Oh, didn't notice."
"Obviously," I mutter.
"Hm?"
"Nothing."
During class, I focus on my work and try and get my mind off of Taylor. I catch myself glancing at him a few times, then look away.
Mrs. Dillion says to partner up for a worksheet, and Taylor wants me to be his. I remember that Cam isn't in the class, so I accept.
We get started, then I blurt,
"How are you and Cam?"
"We're really good, actually. Thanks for asking!" Taylor smiles.
I fake a smile, then frown when Taylor looks away.
As Taylor and I work on the worksheet, I feel an awkward tension between us. We haven't been talking as much. So I invite Taylor over to hang out.
"I can't," he says. "Cam and I going out."
My jaw clenches, and my hands ball up into fists.
Taylor's POV
Shawn looks upset when I tell him I can't hang out. He asks about tomorrow, and I hesitate before answering.
"I... I can't," I stutter.
"I give UP! You guys are always leaving me out, and it's so ducking annoying! I just want to spend some time with my friends, but you guys are always together and eating each others faces! I can't take it, I'm DONE with you all!"
With that, Shawn stands up and stomps out of the room. I stand there, shocked. The whole class is staring at me. I stand up and leave the classroom, rushing down the hall after Shawn.
"Shawn! Wait!" I call out.
He doesn't slow done, but speeds up and leaves the building. When I run outside, a gust of cold air hits me like a brick. I chase Shawn down the street, then finally catch up. I jump onto his back, and he looses his balance. We both fall to the ground. Shawn tries to get up, but I, surprisingly, keep him down.
"Let me go!" He yells.
"No!" I yell back.
Shawn struggles to stand, then gives up.
"You need to let me explain," I beg.
"Let's go to my house," Shawn says after a moment.
He stands up, then helps me.
"Damn, you're light," Shawn says.
I stare at him, then shrug and look down. We begin walking and it's really awkward and quiet.
Once we're at Shawn's, he kicks his shoes off and we go into the kitchen.
"Explain," Shawn says, giving me a straight face and crossing his arms.
"Cam is my first boyfriend. I love hanging out with him, and I've been really happy with him," I explain.
I like Cam, but I love Shawn. I know Shawn doesn't like me back, so I went for Cam.
Shawn looks at the ground, then looks back at me with watery eyes.
"What's wrong?" I ask, walking over to him.
"I'm not telling you, you're going to hate me," he mumbles.
"I will never hate you," I assure him.
"Fine," Shawn says. "I like you. No, more like love. I love you, Taylor. I've liked you since forever, and I started developed stronger feelings since we've been hanging out. I know you don't like me back because you like Cam. But I love you."
By this time, Shawn is crying. I stare at him, then hug him.
"I thought you didn't like me back," I whisper.
"You like me back?" Shawn sniffs.
I nod. Shawn and I stare at each other, then Shawn puts his hands on my cheeks and quickly kisses me. I kiss him back without hesitation. God, his lips are so soft.
Shawn's POV
I did it. I finally told Taylor my feelings for him. And, we're kissing. God, his lips are so soft. We stand there in the middle of my kitchen, kissing. I set my hands on his hips, and Taylor shyly sets his around my shoulders.
After three minutes, Taylor pulls back.
"I love you, too," Taylor whispers.
"You can't, you're dating Cam," I frown.
"I know. But I've been wanting to date you since we started talking."
"But I don't want to ruin you're relationship."
"You won't. I promise."
I sigh, then nod. Taylor and I stand there for a little bit, then go up to my room. We sit on my bed and watch Orange is The New Black on Netflix, which is my favorite show at the moment. Taylor snuggles to my side, and I put my arm around his shoulders.

Later that night, Taylor leaves to go break up with Cam. Yeah, I feel bad, but come on, it's Taylor Caniff. I've liked Taylor for a while, but never had the nerve to talk to him.
Taylor finally comes back to my house.
"How'd it go?" I ask.
"Cam took it pretty well, actually. He said he knew that I liked you, and that he saw this coming. He's still my friend and supports me," Taylor explains.
"That's good," I nod.
Taylor and I end up sitting in bed for the rest of the night, eating, watching movies and cuddling.
