My agent had just called to tell me that I had a spot as an extra on the new X-Men movie. I was super excited even though in sure it wasn't that big of a deal. I'm just happy that I have two lines and that I don't die haha.
I was walking around the set and basically staying to myself. There were a lot of well known actors walking around and I didn't want to come off wrong or bothering anyone. I got to talking with another extra who sensed my nervousness and came over to start a conversation. It was almost time to film my first scene. There was an attack on the city and I was witnessing a couple of mutants using their power stopping me in my tracks. I was filming the scene with professor Xavier.
"Y/n, are you ready for the scene?" One of the producers asked me, I nodded my head and he led me to my starting point.
I started walking as my scene started and the wind picked up, my hair flying around, the other extras gasped at the sudden wind. "What's happening?" I said nervously. I walked a little further when I looked up to "see" concrete and debris spreading through the air. I stopped in my tracks terrified. I was surely going to either get severely hurt or killed. I notice a man staring at the sky with his hand to his head. I slowly backed away when I realized what he was. He seemed to notice my horror because I heard a voice say "don't be afraid".
That didn't help much because when I went to go turn away, I tripped on the pavement, (hurting my ankle but no one knew that at the time) falling into a pothole. I was just about to get hit with a piece of a building when it stopped in front of my face. I looked astonished at the sight of floating debris right above my face. "We are here to protect you" I heard the voice again. The debris was moved from my view to the left side of me, I was still terrified when I saw the most breathtaking eyes appear in front of me.
*the scene was supposed to go another way but James improvised and changed what he was to say, also this is a scene where Charles can walk*
"Sleep now child" he said as he raised his hand to my face and I played along. I closed my eyes and went limp and he caught my head before it could hit the ground. He picked up my limp body with ease and started to walk down the street.
"Cut, cut. That's a wrap for this scene and I have some rewriting to do." The director yelled.
Before James could set me down on my feet I whispered "James? I think I broke my ankle." He looked me in the eyes and his eyes widened. He quickly and gently readjusted his grasp on me and walked over to the director.
"Hey James, I like what you did with the script, I could sense your character chemistry as well. Young lady, would you like a larger roll in this film?" He asked me.
I nodded my head. "Yes, yes sir, thank you so much." My smile was so big, I almost forgot my ankle was throbbing. I remembered when James jestered towards my ankle. Oh yeah. "Oh um, I need to go to the hospital, I think I broke my ankle when I fell in the hole." I said sadly hoping that it won't affect my new role.
"Oh my, yes yes. Do you have anyone to take you, do you want me to call an ambulance? " he asked me.
"I um-." I was cut off when James started to talk. "Hey, I'll take her. That was the last scene for today, right? So I'll take her and let you know the details. Let us know about the script as well" James said to the director. I can't believe he offered to take me.
"Are you sure you want to take me, you don't have to, I can just take a taxi cab to the hospital center." I said to him.
"You can take a taxi but I'm coming with you." He said with no hesitation. This is not exactly how I wanted meet James, me being the klautz that I am. I nodded and he called a taxi cab and we headed on our way.
He had me checked into the ER and now it was just a waiting game and x-rays. "You know you don't have to stay here with me, you can go relax, you have the ready of the day off." I tried to shoo him because I felt guilty that he had to wait here.
"Don't fret darlin. I don't mind, this way I can get to know my newest costar." I blushed as he said costar. This has to be a dream I thought. "It's no dream love, I felt a connection with you and I wanted it to show on the screen, I think we good make this even better of a film. I see potential in your acting abilities and to grabbing a tea with you in the future? If you would like, when we are done here or tomorrow?"
I was starstruck, was he really asking me to get tea? I saw him waiting for an answer. I quickly nodded with a smile on my face. "I would enjoy that very much so." He smiled and there was this twinkle in his breathtaking eyes. Happiness. He looked genuinely happy. Next thing I knew, I was being brought into the X-ray room, with him holding my hand all the way there and hopefully it will not be terrible news but if so, two pieces of good news to one piece of bad news, that still sounds like a pretty good day to me.
Being an extra isn't too bad right?
