( chapter three )

THE MOMENT JIM TOUCHED the flyer Milly gave, he sensed something he never felt before. Was it the chilling atmosphere between them? Or ─ as cliché as it sounds ─ a love connection?

His best friend (and only friend), Toby, waved his hand infront of Jim's face. "Yo, dude? Are you okay? Don't tell me you talked some Spanish into Milly." Toby stated bluntly. The black haired boy snapped from his thoughts and looked at the palm of his left hand.

"Tobes... I kinda felt something weird when I touched the flyer."

The redhead arched his brow in confusion. "Maybe you had that lovey dovey aura, like most of those romantic movies?" Jim shook his head. To him, nope, that was most certainly not a lovey dovey aura. It's something else. Something both Jim and Milly hadn't felt in their life, like a string suddenly attached them.

And for some reason, the flyer is the anchor to it.

"No, I'm having a very weird feeling right now. And it's like someone─ no, something─ is making me and Milly stick our bodies like glue." He folded the flyer and shoved it inside his pocket. "And I'm pretty sure what happened back there wasn't a love thing."

Milly caressed her right hand, as if something pricked her palm like a thorn. She felt the weird tingling sensation again, and it's wriggling inside her palm now.

If blood's getting out of her hand, that's obviously a no-no sign. She wrapped her palm with her handkerchief, just to be safe from any germ that could get whatever that feeling was from infection. Milly bid goodbye to her cousin and her friends and went on to their separate ways.

"Whatever happened back in gym class must have something to do with the amulet under the rubble."

She biked past the forest, and finally arrived at her house. The house is as tall as Claire's house, but the backyard includes a flower and vegetable garden.

Milly opened the garage door and placed her bike beside her father's car tools. She unclasped her helmet and hanged it on the bike's handle. The garage door was closed so the rodents (most especially the raccoons. Those goddamn raccoons...) won't get inside and raid Milly's house.

"I'm home..!" The brunette cooed from the other door that leads to the garage. The twins were the first she greeted to. Their yelling and shouting wasn't music to her ears, she tries her best to calmly quiet them down. She chuckled, "Okay, okay! Settle down now. Wait, Mari what are you─ no, Mari, that's- that's bad!"

"Nah, I got it!" Her oldest sister, Helen, grabbed Mari and took the peanut butter jar from her. Out of the twins, Mari is allergic to peanuts. If anyone would come prepared if someone ate something allergic or gets injured, it's Helen.

"Where's kuya?" Milly asked Helen while she grabbed Marie and hugging her to death. Helen replied, "Ernesto is still busy making a story. Y'know he wanted to go to Harvard University so badly."

"Yeah, but doesn't he want to protect us from whatever danger is going on in Arcadia?"

"Once if he gets accepted to Harvard, I'll be in-charge from now on until he's done with college."

Milly grinned, showing her bucktooth. "Sweet─ I-I mean no offense to kuya Ernesto, I understand that he cares so much about us. But he doesn't have to baby us. Honestly, it's getting really annoying over those years."

Helen nodded at her little sister's statement. But when she took a sudden glimpse on Milly's bag, she noticed how the bag is glowing in vibrant red. "Hey, Milly? Why's your bag glowing?"

"Glowing?"

Milly pushed her bag from her shoulders and checked her side pocket to see the red amulet glow. Her mind took distress and hid the amulet behind her back as she faked a smile. "Th-That was probably m-my... glowstick!" She wished to facepalm herself but not infront of Helen.

"A glowstick." Helen deadpanned. "Yeah! Yeah, that. I'm just.... gonna go to the kitchen to eat 'cus you know I'm always hungry! Haha... Bye!" And with that, she went to the kitchen without hearing Helen's reply.

"... Okay then."

Everybody would really think Milly is insane if a weird unfamiliar object is glowing. A glowing amulet, huh? Then she would tell her father about it whether if the amulet as Milly called it is indeed an amulet or not.

She dropped her bag on the kitchen counter and gripped on the edges of the amulet, examining it again. "Why in the world are you glowing?" Milly pokes the amulet's center, only to make its glow bellow that made the brunette tremble in fear.

Then suddenly, the edges brightened with letters carved on it. Milly is at a huge loss of words. An amulet can't glow and it also can't reveal words like "For the glory of Merlin, Moonlight is mine to command" carved on it.

Milly reads the carved words as she spoke the chant in monotone, "For the glory of Merlin... Moonlight is mine to command." Little does she know that those words contain power. Literally.

Three, tiny, red balls of light came out of the amulet. As Milly watch them roam around her, the balls of red light absorbed inside her chest. Realizing that she can't feel the ground from her feet, Milly finds out that she's floating. Her mind is racing with panic and confusion and... fear. Parts of a silver armor appeared, surrounding her chest, arms, hands, legs and feet.

The armor came intact with her body and Milly dropped on the ground. Seeing that the armor is too big for her, it shrunk into her size. Milly gasped in awe at her new outfit. Instead of her casual outfit, she wears a black skin-tight suit inside a chest plate and embedding the amulet on her heart, two shoulder plates except the left one's bigger, metal wrists and fingers, and thick leg armor.

Then a pair of red balls of light again came out of the amulet and absorbed in her right wrist. A sword suddenly appeared magically to Milly's unexpected suprise. Despite the heavy weight it carries, the sword also shrunk just enough for Milly to hold easily.

The brunette looks at every detail of her armor and her sword and breathed out, "Wow."

But in her situation, she's in a kitchen. And if any of her family sees her in an armor that randomly made her wear and a sword─ "I'm toast."

"Milly, is that you in there?"

Oh crap, it's Rudy! Milly panicked in her mind. She tries squat herself to hide behind the kitchen counter, but the clanking sounds the armor makes Rudy's suspicions rise. "Milly, what's going on in there?" He asked again.

Milly whispered to herself, "Hesusmaryosep, what should I do? What should I do!?" She placed the sword on the ground and opened the cabinet under the sink. Trying to fit inside the cabinet, she failed once her brother saw Milly with wide eyes filled with so much disbelief.

"Oh, sheesh kabob."
