It was Dark and it was cold. All she wanted was to go back home to the penthouse. Mackenna was always an outgoing kind person. She was the party girl. She was smart. She lived with her mother who was always away and Lupin. Lupin was one of her best of friends. She would tell him everything. The good and the bad, Lupin knew all of it.

Sitting there in the back of an old Cab she grew nervous. Her mother found her new boyfriend more important and sent Mackenna to live with her father in Little Rock, United States. She placed her hand behind Lupins hear, scratching his soft golden fur. "Oh Lupin," she whispered."How life is going to change". He placed his little nose on her knee and whined as Mackenna rested her head on the window of the cab and slowly fell into a light sleep.

"Maam..." she awoke from her beauty rest as the Taxi Driver continued to drive and talk. The man mumbled most of the time though she was able to pick out something about arriving. the car came to a stop at the corner of Maple and Dawn Drive. Lupin licked her hand as she opened the door and got him on his leash.

"Visiting family?" the driver asked as he got her bags from the trunk. "I guess. All I know so far is that this is where my dad supposedly lives". She pulled herself out of the car and as usual, Lupin followed. She gave the man the money for the Taxi and he placed her bags down beside her. As he drove off Mackenna took a good look at the house.

It was like one of those nice little country houses. It was all white and a little grey around the rims of the door and windows.underneath the water drainage pipes on the edge of the roof were long pieces of wood with carving and holes of different shapes. Suddenly, in a deep voice, she heard someone call out her name. She looked at the front door as if the somehow just knew that is where he was. Lupin raced straight for the man. "LUPIN!" Mackenna screamed as she became instantly terrified. Lupin jumped up on the man lightly just so he was on his hind legs with his front two on his shoulders.

Mackenna ran to the man in confusion. He isn't screaming? She thought to herself. Most would be terrified. Lupin had only done this once when she came back home from a fancy summer camp in Barcelona.

"Wow now Lupin, Calm down now boy," he said as he climbed to his feet. Mackenna stood in front of him as she picked up Lupin's leash.

    She meets eyes with him.

"Mackenna Darling," she said. "Welcome home sweetheart!" He hugged her as she attempted to hug back.

"Um. Can't. Breath. Help." she whispered. "Sorry, Darling. I just missed u so much," there was a long awkward pause. Finally, it was broken by her father. "You must be exhausted. I mean I haven't taken the flight but I am pretty sure that the plane ride to little rock from Paris is a little long." "Yea, it can get annoying. Especially when mom has one of her Fashion shows in the California area," she Replied. "Here. come inside, I will go grab your bags."

she thanked him and went inside with Lupin.

When he came back in they sat in the family room and talked. "I am surprised Lupin took meeting you so well. He is usually shy," said Mackenna. "Well, I guess you should know who the previous owner was. Lupin was mine until you feel in love with him when you were younger. I let you keep him as a gift," she said confidently. "But then again you may not remember that. You were really young then. Coffee?"

    "Yes please"

While waiting she began to explore the room. It had a low ceiling but still a wide room. The ceiling was textured and a fresh new white, the walls were a light shade of grey. There was a small old fashioned television. Along the wall on each side of the entryway were bookshelves. One was tall and held books and what looked like collectibles from around the world. On the first shelf, neatly organized were ornaments from places like Japan, England, Egypt, and Mexico.

On the other side, the shelf was much smaller. There were few collectibles and more photos. Him in different places and landmarks. On the top, there was a photo of her most recent school picture day.

"Sorry if the coffee tastes weird. I think it's time for a new coffee maker¨ he said as he walked back in with two steaming mugs in his hands. Mackenna took a mug and sat on the cold leather couch. ¨so,¨ he said ¨tell me about Paris. How do you like it there?¨ ¨well, In Paris mom has been making so much with her fashion line and everything so she and her new boyfriend Brad have been taking lots of trips together." she yawned, for she had been traveling lots.

"Here, let's get you to bed," he said in a concerning voice. He walked Mackenna down the hall and to her room. It was quite dark so she did not try to take a look at her surroundings, she just continued to follow her father. "Here we are. I bought some fresh sheets and pillows for you when I went out yesterday." "Thanks, Dad. Goodnight," she whispered. Her father left and went into to room across the hall, as she climbed her way onto the bed and under the covers as she fell into a deep sleep.
