It had been a week since I last talked to Trey. After his rude comment I distance myself from him as if I didn’t know him. He didn’t even care he just began taking interest in Jenn and ignored me right back. But on the bright side Clay and I had stopped fighting since he was happy I wasn’t talking to Trey. He had asked me why I wasn’t talking to Trey anymore and I just made up something not wanting to tell him the real reason. “So after the game we’re going to the after party at my house. My parents are out of town so you want to sleep over baby,” Clay asked? After each football game there was an after party and since tonight was the first game of the season the quarterback that being Clay had to host the party. “Yeah my mom’s working a double shift so she won’t even notice,” I said. Clay pulled me into a kiss. We had taken the lunch period to sit in his car and talk. Well we were suppose to be just talking but Clay had turned into a make out session. “I love you,” Clay said. He was trying to give me a hicky and I quickly push him away. “I love you too but we should get going so we aren’t late to our next classes,” I said. I was always the responsible one. “Fine but I’m finishing my love bite,” he whispered against my neck. He always called hicky’s love bites. But I knew better they were his way of marking his territory. “Sorry but you’ll just have to wait until later. I gotta go,” I said. I quickly got out of his car and walked toward the school building. I knew I was going to be in for it later having cut him off.

The rest of the school day went by fast I had even manage to stomach sitting next to Trey for the last two classes we had. He had made sure to sit away from me but it was just my luck that he had walked in class too late to find another seat.

After school all the guys on the football team and all the girls on the cheer team had to hang out in the gym until game time. I wanted to go over and talk to Jenn but she was talking to Trey. In the couple months of being at our school Trey had joined the football team. I was happy for Jenn that she was getting Trey’s attention but I was a little hurt too. I felt like I was losing my best friend to a racist asshole. Yeah Trey being my ex should have meant I didn’t want Jenn dating him. But I was seriously too old for that you can’t date my ex catty drama. If Trey wanted Jenn and Jenn wanted Trey they had every right to be together.

Since Jenn was talking to Trey I went over to talk to Angela. She was siting with a couple other girls from the cheer team that I kind of knew. “Hey Angela,” I said taking a seat next to her. She smiled and said hey back. “You know they’re totally hooking up tonight. They could be getting back together” a girl said. I had forgotten the girl’s name but I knew she was close to Allie. “Who,” I asked? I had no clue who this girl was referring to. “Clay and Allie,” the girl said as if it was obvious. I looked over to the other end of the gym to where the locker rooms led. I saw Allie standing against the wall and Clay standing in front of her with one hand resting on the side of her head against the wall. He was shirtless with only a pair of basketball shorts on. Some of the guys were playing a pick up game and he was obviously on the skins team. “I bet it’s nothing,” Angela said moving closer to me so no one could hear. I guess I looked worried because she managed to wave a hand in front of my face.

“Clay come on man you and Allie can get it on later,” Aaron shouted. I was taken back by my brother’s words. Then I remembered he didn’t know Clay was dating me, so I let it go. That was until Clay smirked and said something to Allie that made her smile and laugh. He left her and walked back over the game and took his position. As I watched Clay take his position Allie walked over to where I was sitting with a few of the girls. “So what were you and Clay talking about,” a girl asked Allie. She smiled and looked back at all us girls ready to spill the gossip. “Nothing much. He just told me about tonight’s party at his house and I told him how sexy he looked with out a shirt. He also told me I looked good at the top of the pyramid and that I was working my cheer uniform today,” Allie said. I couldn’t believe what Allie was saying. Clay had been hitting on her. What was that about? “Hey Kendra come with me to my locker I need to get something,” Angela said. I looked at her and could tell she just wanted to give me an out to Allie’s conversation. I got up and Angela and I began walking. Before we could get out of the gym Aaron and Clay came running over to us. “Babe where you going,” Aaron said to Angela. Angela pulled him aside. I was left standing with Clay the one person I didn’t really want to be standing near at the moment.
